Would have been an even bigger political minefield trying to take inner city parkland over. Not to mention the hare-brained idea of trying to build the HQ on top of the train tracks.

That we are trying to build a home base in the middle of a racecourse tells you how difficult it is to find enough available space to put a couple of ovals on that isn't an hour from the CBD.

Fishermans Bend can do.

Here's a look at the Waverley facilities which would be an upgrade on the split AAMI / Gosch's Paddock / MCG training and admin set up, allowing the club to bring everything under one roof.

If this in used in the interim while Caulfield is being approved and eventually developed, it could be a positive.

Chalk & Cheese to what we have now… imagine the whole club under 1 roof … I do believe this has been a nemesis and cause of so many issues of disconnect

We’re in fisherman bend? I live in port melb and the whole redevelopment has stalled, port melb vfl has been spoken about which is need of redevelopment but it’s used as a cricket ground, with our relationship with Casey this would prohibit to form another vfl alliance.

The only instance that Waverley becomes an acceptable place for the MFC is on the proviso that we are given confirmation that Caulfield is happening with aligned funding, confirmed builders/ architects and a start date.

Is this your opinion or insider knowledge? That was my thoughts on why we would do it, to get government to agree to Caulfield by offering up the space at Gosch’s

Just my opinion. I’m really against moving to Waverley and the radio silence from the club on anything to do with facilities is frustrating.

Official MFC season launch on Monday evening - maybe something said then?

The only thing they'll say is that they can't say anything.

But your opinion is absolutely correct!

If we go to Waverley and Caulfield is not locked in, then we wil be stuck with the facilities that were rejected by Hawthorn, because they are not up to the standard required in 2026.

Collingwood and TA will move fast to fill the space to their advantage.

Tell me we couldn't be that dumb.

Richmond knocked back Waverley as an interim site while they upgrade Punt Rd. Doesn't seem much interest from the umpires. It's not exactly a hot destination.

Agree the whole development stalled, but still represents as a greenfield site for 80,000 people and could support housing shortage issues.

Is supported by both parties for different reasons but fails due to reluctance of both parties to publicly acknowledge developer profit taking.

Plenty of scope for a community facility including entertainment, retail and corporate destination for transport which would shift the intransience. A powerful AFL presence as training and club administration centre with internal and external areas could get the project back on track

But the club is focused on Caulfield.

They'll be able to copy and paste speech from last year, seems nothing has changed !

If Caulfield fails, they should look at Melbourne Showgrounds or outside Flemington Racecourse.

Reckon there’d be more than a fair few carpark-loving VRC members that would be pretty upset about that. I give us more chance of making the MCG our base than I do this.

Caulfield is far from done, if Waverley is the interim it’s far better than AAMI
