Would Nik Cox be a possibility at Pick 23 for us? 199cm Key Forward. Could be a good option for us.

He’s an interesting player.  He showed good agility for a big guy in Futures game that I saw last year.  A few summers of gym sessions of course are needed as he’s very lightly build.

Son of former Demon Darryl Cox so a good connection.

On current picks, he’d be around the 18-20 mark and likely for Saints, Tigers or Lions. But if he was available at our pick, I’d definitely take him.

Ollie Lord trained with the Dees and from what I saw in 2-3 sessions, and the Futures game last year, he reminded me of a young Tom Hawkins. But I would have liked to see more games to see if he was able to “get the footy more”.  Probably a good draft pick in 60s or a rookie.
Wouldn’t be disappointed to see him on board the Demons train but like all key positions youngsters, we’d have to be patient with development.

Not one for another 4 years but Subiaco Development Squad have got an absolute gun coming through.

Malachi Champion, indigenous boy from Kalgoorlie small HFF, with pace, elite by foot, awareness,  poise in traffic and fantastic decision maker. Watched him in training sessions and 2 games for the development squad last week and some of the things he did made a few keen track watchers stand up.

Subiaco's talent manager had a grin like a Chesire cat.

Champion has played vountry footy but is about to start at Aquinas College down in Perth next year  definitely one to watch

Kossie like? We could use another one but 4 years away?

On what I seen he's probably better than Kossie. But 4 years yes a lot can happen

primarily a small forward i50 or or is he playing up thru the midfield?

how does he compare in size to boys his own age?

Plays primarily forward but like Kossie and Ryan moves up the ground to he that link player.

He's a small player compared to most of the boys but at 14 IMO will end up around the 180cm range.

If he’s an indigenous player then wouldn’t he end up on one of the two WA club’s NGA Academies?

Don't think he will now that he's been accepted at Aquinas

From another post, if JT had to turn sliders into diamonds, I’d go for

#47-52   Rhyan Mansell, 20 yo running wing half forward from Tassie, SANFL WWT Eagles in 2020

#60s   Patrick Walker 18yo (Tassie) yes another Tassie boy who showed in TSL senior footy - good composure and excellent skills,  188cms size.

# 60s Ollie Lord , 18yo-(Sandringham) -  project key forward. Trained with Dees over the summer and has makings of a AFL key forward

60s Will Bravo 18 yo (Dandenong) from the Stingrays footy factory, showed as an underager in 2019, his excellent goal kicking and pace and energy to forward group

Good to see Patrick Walker got a focus.  He’s a quality kid who I saw in 2019 and thought his class and composure would suit our future needs. The fact he has grown adds to his tall half back flank credentials.

Best type is Sam Berry but he is likely to be a pick in 30-35 and I’d rather a kid with good pace and run to develop.  Don’t need another small mid imv

There are reports that we’re actually trying to get the real Jack Higgins (not the author).

Wing position.

Jack Carroll (WA). Saw him at last year’s championship.  Hoping he stays under the radar.  Should be available around pick 20.

Nick Stevens is a country lad from Ballarat Rebels who is good mover with skills and footy smarts. Saw him in the Geelong Grammar v Melbourne Grammar game last year and he was a standout. Could be available around pick 30

Nick Stevens returned some good results in the draft testing. 2km time trial -  6m32s  ; 20 metre sprint 2.97s. Combination of endurance and speed  He has the footy ability and the athleticism needed for AFL  Might be available around pick 26- 30 if we hold our 2nd round pick.   HERE IS A BIG CALL. I think this kid might be the next Trent Rivers. ?

Ps. Jack Carroll is also going to be a gun. Think Simon Black.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
