Weid is so far down the list of concerns he’s off the page. I look forward to watching his development.continue for the rest of the year.

Quoting myself but what the hell. For those interested in a comparison later than the '80's / 90's  a comparison to Hawkins is instructive. Hawkins, who came into AFL with a much more developed body, didn't become a dominant forward until his sixth season in the comp. In his first five years the only times he really looked like a quality player was when he played on Nathan Carroll.

I wouldn't be giving up on the Weed just yet.

Poor Nathan, he was just hung over!

Thanks both of you for highlighting why I need to post with greater frequency than should be required.

A poster made the claim that forwards don’t usually begin to blossom until 23+yo. I refuted that claim by reeling of eight MFC forward line stars of the past 25 years who did exactly that., some even earlier than their fourth season. And that’s just at our club!

Dance around it all you like and try to make it all about me. It just makes the silence in which you fail to defend Weideman’s paltry output this season all the more deafening.

I’ve one and only one question for you and any other critics of me in this thread - why are you setting the bar so low? I honestly don’t get it.

In another thread you are advocating that we recruit Ben Brown.  At the end of his corresponding season with Weed's current season he'd played 11 games for 18 goals.

Excuse me? In his fourth season (2017) Ben Brown kicked 63 goals 30 behinds.

In just his second season he booted 32 goals. Third season - 41.

I believe he's talking age. Brown turned 22 at the end of 2014.

In 2014, at the same age as Weid, Brown did kick 18 goals across 11 games.

Probably wasn't worded well, but worth taking a second to think before trying to wack someone, I was able to understand it so I'm sure you could have if you tried.

Regardless of what you ‘believe’ he never mentioned age, he said “corresponding season”. Maybe read posts properly and have a second think before you go accusing others of ‘whacking’ another poster and butting into a conversation.

You’re being unnecessarily antagonistic. The usual path when someone’s argument is falling flat and their numbers don’t stack up.

Read it properly. Understood it. Explained it to you.

Your reaction says plenty.

was there not  a year when 3 or 4 players kicked over 100 goals

In 1970, Peter Hudson kicked 146, Peter McKenna 143 and Alex Jesaulenko 115. And in 1971 Hudson followed up with a mere 150 and McKenna with 134.

Even if you’re taking that ridiculously obtuse angle as your defensive position it’s still 9 more goals than the 6-touch wizard wearing number 26 for the Dees!

If you think Weid is going to take the comp by storm next year like Brown did in his third and fourth years at AFL level then I applaud your optimism. Please don’t mortgage your home to bet on it, though. There’s a long waiting list for government housing.

I wasn't the one taking that position.

I never said anything about Weid 'taking the comp by storm'.

Again, slow down, take a second to understand what is being said, maybe even have a think about it, then compose your reply.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
