The first half of the season puts paid to predictions such as what were made at the start of the year so the idea of going off the first half of the season to draw your conclusion about the second half is folly.  Whilst I doubt we will make the eight I do think that this is not a rational thing and a couple of wins could put us on a winning streak.  We have our injured players back and the run home does look a bit more doable.  Reach the eight and it is game-on

Ah, bugger it. I’m on at $21 to make the 8. Not sure about the $251 for the flag though. We were $501 last night. Did the plunge come from here?

Might have been my 3 bucks each way that tipped the scales

was wondering when we were going to morph into discussing our flag chances for 2019.

Just about to book a trip for warmer climes during finals time. Do you guys think I should hold off?

The club should be doing whatever it takes to best prepare the team for fitness, list management and gameplan for 2020.

The Club should be asking those who are still on the park to show some grit, endeavour and pride

The rest will take care of itself

Our previous 'list management' practices turned out realllyyy well......

how on earth are we $21 to make the 8?!

should be $501

There's precedence to such spectacular crashes the following year.

Fremantle went from being 16-2 after round 19 2015, to going 4-18 the next year. They finished 16th in 2016 but one of those sides below them was a VFL side (who incidentally beat our senior side in 2016).

If things go south for us over the next fortnight I'm expecting a "will we win another game" thread pop up.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
