No, we are not a chance.

We'd need to win 9 out of 10 games and build our awful percentage up by 30% or so.

Our fixture still contains Fremantle (6th), Brisbane (7th, and on the road), West Coast (5th), Richmond (8th, and by then likely to have more of its better players back in the side) and Collingwood (2nd). We'd therefore need to win all bar one of these games, and win the rest (Carlton, Bulldogs, St Kilda, Sydney, North Melbourne in Tasmania).

It's not happening, even if we turn our form around rapidly.

Having said all that, IMO the only thing we should "relax" our position on for the last 10 games (as compared to if we were 5-7 and borderline in the top eight) is player fitness. Don't rush injured players back, and when in doubt we should rest rather than persist. If TMac's sore, get him out of the side and rest him up. Ditto Viney, and anyone else. Otherwise aim to win all 10 games in terms of selection and gameplan.

This isn't about conceding the season, it is about doing what is best for the future without sacrificing the ability to properly prepare for it.

It's a shift in planning, not a shift in what the goal is, which is winning games and ultimately a premiership.

But this club has no right to pull the pin, at any stage. That is my point, and it is what must change. 

We have pulled the pin for years at times and we see the results. 

Over the years Whorethorn have always played to win even if they missed the odd September, a winning culture is the premium objective. We need that attitude locked in. 

What i will say is this, i wouldn’t rush anyone back into the side until they are ready to go

I think 12 wins will have you a game clear in the 8 this year with 8th spot being on 11 wins. 

Due to our % we will need to be on 12 wins minimum which means 9 out of the last 10.

Allowing all those who are not >90% fit to rest, repair and regenerate. NB Tom McDonald.  These are needed to be 100% fit and ready for 2020

I don't think I made my point clear enough mate. I was having a crack at the players and coaches by saying it looks like they already pulled the pin.

Either way, I've tried to explain that my suggestion isn't 'pulling the pin', it's putting a value on an effective preseason rather than destroying another preseason by riding players into the ground and not adjusting/innovating our game plan(s) and structures.

The best thing that could happen is we finish low, get a good draft pick and the club is forced to review what went horribly wrong and take action. Winning pointless matches for the remainder of the season will just paper over the cracks in our clubs foundations.

Sure, but the reality is we came into this season underprepared due to running the players down, which was worth it to make a prelim, but not worth it to possibly finish 10th instead of 12th, which could be the case this year.

Reality is we have players who are nowhere near 100% fitness and we are far better off getting them physically right for a year that matters than setting ourselves back again for next year.

Reality is we have massive game plan  and structure issues that we can start working on during proper games and try to get it fine tuned by preseason, or we can just keep doing the same old (which is costing us games btw) and then try to teach the players something new in the short time span of one preseason.

Let's deal in reality and not cliches.

I am not dealing in cliches at all. 

The Competition we are in is bloody tough. There is no excuse for coming into a season under prepared. That is a Cop Out. 

Gameplan and Structure I agree, is our Coach out of his depth?? I am concerned. 

The Filth had Massive injuries to their backline last year, made the GF and are tracking pretty well for yet another tilt. 

We do not need to put the cue in the rack after Round12. We need to toughen up Physically and Mentally, that is the reality. 

Because the same thing will be happening in 2021, or is that a year of for The MFC??

Mate, I love your passion, but I'm not sure how many more ways I can explain it.

Of course there's reasons for coming into a season underprepared. Our surgery and fitness report clearly explained that. It's not an excuse, it's the reality of our preparation.

It's not about putting the cue in the rack. Putting the cue in the rack would be continuing to do the same thing for the rest of the season.

'Toughen up' is out of touch talk. Is that how you'd handle injuries? Just tell them to 'toughen up'? Again, it's just simply not reality.

I guess we have different priorities. Not for one moment do i advocate thrashing injured players. That was done with Jack Trengove. 

I want 45 players on our list to be at AFL elite standard

Yes the Launch process. Goodwin completely blew that last Summer, thinking the Preliminary Final was just an off day. 

Finals are done, but we shouldn’t give up on any season before Round 20, it is to much of a get out clause mentality. 

When players sign these contracts, it has to be a tough road, physically and mentally....
