I Just watch the replay again and trac was instrumental in the last 10sec I’m getting the ball down to our 50 where Hunt was going to run onto it with 2 hawks to beat.

Great effort especially considering it was right at the end of the game.

And with 2.04 to go Tracc won a crucial ball in traffic on the wing and dished off a handball to create the forward entry before the Frost to Lockhart effort

I just got around to watching the replay.  I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised.  Not by the win, but by the manner in which we won.  What we saw here was many of the things we have been asking for implemented and actually working.  I'm fairly certain I saw four Shepherds by Melbourne players at various points.  One of them was unintentional, but that's still three better than in any match previously under Goodwin.  We saw players staying out of the contest so there was an outlet when we won the ball.  We defended a bit further back so that we weren't leaving a great gaping void for the opposition to run into and also creating a bit more space in our forward line.  We had crumbers at marking contests.  While I still saw far too many bombs to the hot spot, in general we were a bit more discerning in our f50 entries.  Honestly, if our players could kick basic set shots like the other teams, we would have won by five goals or more.

Definitely some of the best bits of our efforts. Good enough to beat Whoreform - a team of champions.

Tick, tick went the clock; great ideas, great efforts went Trac, Frost, Lockhart.

Just in relation to the final few minutes, was that Lockhart kick too far for him to kick (uncertain of his attributes still).

Just found it interesting he slotted it off to Melksham; was that purely to buy time or due to his kicking ability.

Buying time. Smart. But notice the positioning/nonchalance of the Melk - smart, too.

Coaches votes.  Salem a bit stiff.

Law of averages suggests otherwise. If Lockhart misses Hawthorn get the ball with 1:30 left and can take it down the other end and kick a goal. They almost did that anyway but they had less time and all we needed to do was bring it back down to our forwards just once more to win it.

You the know the law of averages is not a law, it is usually a misunderstanding of probability. The multitude of possible outcomes from varying one incident in a dynamic situation like a game of footy is mind boggling. No, I am sure it cost Jayden Hunt a got with 8 seconds remaining.

I see Frotsy as more of a gazelle - leaping, jumping then running like hell.

Not that my personal opinion counts for anything... I have conceded that when Lever, May and Jetta are fit (and even if Jetta is not fit)...he has a short AFL career ahead of him.... ?

But hey, we are a team that has recruited a whole heap of $hhit brothers...

Cockatoo Collins (s)

Ottens

Holland

Gaspar

etc

etc

erm longevity - the great A.Jakovich

Not [censored] brother, but one who at this stage doesn't look like being a contributor compared to his bro (for injury reasons) is KK.

Agree completely

Watch the Jones goal from the Geelong final last year, Petracca won the loose ball and evaded and dished off to Jones

He's cat-like on the ground, love his presence in the forward 50 contests when the ball is up for grabs

OMG - have you heard that Geelong have signed him up :-((

I did to...  but i thought a gazelle was to passive, and fearful.

Frosty isn't like that character.  So I looked further.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
