Who else, there is not much in the Casey cupboard?

Bring back the Danial Cross magic cream.

The saddest thing about the the Stack affair is the reminder that one Demonland's greatest ever threads has slipped into the aether. For the newbies:

Honestly, Jack has underwhelmed this year.  Back from his foot injuries, he is not explosive out of a contest or clean enough with disposal.  Being ‘tough’ only gets you so far.  I am disappointed he is injured, but he is a real barometer on where we are at right now.  We can’t keep playing guys that are NQR, except there is no one to replace them.

...........

Malaria, hookworm, polio and filariasis have not been eradicated.

Viney to miss a couple of weeks , is it going to be the same as May's 3 week layoff blowing out to 7-8 weeks. I wish the Medicos at Melbourne wouldn't quote any figures regarding injuries.

If I were a gambling man I would definitely plonk down hard-earned on that scenario playing out.

He definitely tried to take it on. 99% of players in the league would have side stepped it which was the smart thing to do and would have been beneficial for the team. Almost feel sometimes Viney is just out there to show how tough he is rather than actually play football and help his side win.

We don’t need courageous acts that amount to nothing. We need match winners and that’s what a captain should do.

Baker would be the outside runner.  At least a run for 3 games just to see how he goes, even if only as experience for next year.  Can't do much worse than the others and he has a bit of height to take a mark.

To keep playing NQR players, is to risk turning them chronic injury stats.

Not to mention AVB's 4 weeks blowing out to at least 10.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
