1994 , last time they met in a preliminary Final.

Lyon,. Schwarz, Stynes, Viney,  Lovett,  Tingay, Wight, Charles, Pike, Viney  ... the flag was there for the taking but we ran into a brick wall in Perth.

Thankfully the current Eagles are not a patch on the 1994 version.

Th Eagles of 2018 are not a great side McGovern cutting off everything bombed forward is the biggest threat, Shuey can play but Harmes can hold him Kennedy will never have played on a guy with the speed of Frost, the Demons can win this game.

Lewis starts the mind games with WCE:  "Wily Melbourne veteran Jordan Lewis has thrown a barb at the West Coast camp ahead of the preliminary final by suggesting the Eagles are “more predictable’’ with key forwards Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling in the team".

Eagles by 10 goals.

Melbourne by 18

Lewis is right. There's is a Hawthorn style game. Deny them the control with constant pressure and just like Hawthorn they'll fall away. Our game has to be at its Zenith but we will beat them. Beat them last time... we'll beat them this time.

McGovern will find his day a hard long slog. Darling is a worry...but maybe we're just more of a worry now than we were a few weeks back.

We've seen the best of the Weagles I think. Still to see the best of us.

26 degrees forecast for Perth next Saturday... the weather recently has been a far more pleasant 22.

Melbourne a nice 20 degree day so very nice to sip on a long drink while watching the saga unfold.

Was there that day. A period in time before they learnt to Boooooooooooo. They treated visiting Melbourne supporters really well then. Were happy to talk as they wanted to know what the "East Coast" was like.  Well it was a long time ago.

Dont underestimate Jordan 'Yoda' Lewis.

Was anyone else at Junction Oval in '94?

Faulty projector initially, Maria Carey's 'There's a Hero' montage that had me balling eyeballs out - then the game itself........

Different story this time ?

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
