Have Melbourne FC thought about Podcasting?

I've come across alot of EU Football/Soccer podcasts on itunes and think the Dees should lead the way in providing more avenues to reach members and fans "across the world".

Ideas and thoughts welcome...

fantastic idea.... fesability would be a bit of an issue.

Also dont Sportal and or Bigpond already own the rights to all AFL web content so wouldnt there be a licensing issue?

What really gives me the irrits is that games are already available to be viewed online via the AFL website but you need to be a bigpond broadband customer. It seems somehow anti competative.

I wonder what would happen if say chanel 7 tried to introduce fee paid online replays?

I believe that Melbourne FC would have some control over what access they can gain to match games, videos, audio etc...

Alot of these podcasts are free on itunes and it only provides free publicity for the football club.

It doesnt necessarily need to be match games or video....simple audio regarding club news, changes within the club, upcoming events and

more importantly player interviews - this giving people the chance to know the players on a different level.

Channel 7 will have alot more control now also so what is stopping them from allowing clubs to reach out to their members and supporters?

{You don't even need an IPOD if it's in MP3 format, you can listen to it anywhere!}

You can get the online replays but you must live overseas and have to pay a fee. They are also not available until 24 hours after the final siren.

I was happy to pay this the last 2 years and thought that while the quality of it wasn't great, it was acceptable. I've recently given up on the service, I get quite a lot of TV online and live in Korea where the broadband is great and the AFL service through Telstra is one of if not the worst quality of online TV I've found and watched consistently. The disgraceful thing is, it's also the only one I pay for. The fact that Telstra charge money for the service and then provide such a bad quality, constantly buffering and erratic service is immoral to say the least.

There are other ways to get hold of replays, so no more through Telstra for me, the service is just too damn poor.

As for podcasts, don't look for anything innovative from these pricks and the AFL site they run

Am a member and use them, but if I can get it online legally and it's a decent quality, I'm happy to pay. Sadly the quality from the AFL/telsta site is poor at best

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
