One week at a time.  Warm and sunny predicted for this Friday.

If we make it, a nice dry Perth September day would be ideal.

We seem to kick straight when it is warm and dry, but can be a bit all over the place when wet and dewy!

Does anybody know a way to get a ticket to the prelim IF we do make it?

My situation is that I am an MCC member, and pay the extra $90 for the MFC membership on top - which includes no game day access, so I assume I won't have access to any finals tickets IF we make it.

Spoke to MFC Membership Services today about all this (and why not!!). There’ll be a pre-general-admission opportunity for WCE and Melb/Haw club members to get tix, through Ticketmaster (thank Christ), most probably on Mon 17 Sept between 9am-1pm.

From what they were saying, it sounds like the amount of tix offered, in the first instance, to both the home and away club members will be the same - that’s promising if you are an MFC member and you intend to go. Re travel packages if you’re that way inclined, MFC won’t be doing them, but there will be some packages (tix and travel/accom or just travel/accom) available through AFL Travel.

Needless to say, if the Dees get up this Fri as I think we should, Perth here we come, by hook or by crook!!

I booked refundable flights on Sunday.,

Fingers crossed I don’t need to apply for the refund.

The game was originally going to be earlier but us Perthites whinged to the AFL that the sun would fade our curtains and the cows wouldn’t milk.

Found some flights 588 return. Non refundable though. Tempting.

Can you book just one way for now then book the flight home if we beat Hawthorn? That way if we don’t beat Hawthorn you’ve only wasted the money on the flight over.

Not a bad option Ethan. The other possibility is adding an extra $45 each way to make the fares flexible. So if I we lose I can use them another time.

The problem is I have the "exclusive" membership - which is just a scarf and a calendar essentially. I believe the "premium" one is required (this costs ~200 extra, and until now has had no use) to get access to finals tickets.

I would be happy to give you my barcode number to use as I can't get to Perth that weekend.   The more demon supporters at 'The Booooooooooooo Stadium' the better.

I would think AFL/Ticketmaster release the same number of tickets for the priority member purchase for both teams so you should have no trouble getting tickets.

Let's hope we make it!

Yes, you might be right about that, sorry. The premium option gives you priority access to finals’ tickets.

I'm sure there would be members who wobt be able to make it over who could help out with a membership barcode for the game.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
