Wiseblood 24,637 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) It's hard to call right now. JKH probably deserves the chop, but for who? Vanders, if Goody is to be believed, won't be considered for a while yet. Do we bring in Kent? Has he been good enough at VFL level? Joel Smith doesn't excite me either, so do they give Wagner a run? Or is that just deck chairs at this point? I think what we need to consider is that we only got done by 2 points. Not 10 goals. I can't see the club making huge changes for the Crows game, other than maybe 1 or 2. What that looks like is anybodies guess right now. Edit - I know some might want Tyson dropped, but with Viney for another 3-4 games, I can see the club sticking with him as he's the best option right now. Edited July 21, 2018 by Wiseblood 3 Quote
titan_uranus 25,255 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 JKH and Joel Smith shouldn't be playing. Fingers crossed Hibberd is fit. Otherwise, the rest of the improvement needs to come from the players who played tonight. Quote
DeeSpencer 26,675 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Oscar, Hogan, Tyson. All useless. Oscar - Pedersen or Kielty Hogan - Give Weeds another go. Tyson - Oskar Baker or even Bugg on a wing 1 Quote

jnrmac 20,375 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Oscar has to go. He is a poor man's Zac Dawson. I'd try Keilty. He has some physical presence. Our defence is the same it has been all year against the better sides. Too easy to score against. Some refuse to see it. 8 goals straight in the last qtr. FMD what a pathetic effort. Who cares if we make finals. We will be making up the numbers with a defence like ours. Roos must be cringing at how easy we are to score against. Tyson did nothing. JKH same. Bugg and anyone for mine, hopefully Hibberd. Great game by Harmes. 1 Quote

A better game with the ball, although still managed to kick in to the mark and a number of other dumb kicks. When the Cats stacked the forward line and he had to be on Tim Kelly he was absolutely torched. Fortunately he played most of the game on Jarmaine Jones or so other no body who didn't hurt him the other way. There probably won't be anyone for him to hide on against the Crows. 1 Quote

titan_uranus 25,255 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 We're not dropping OMac or Hogan. Appreciate the frustration, and both need to be significantly better, but we're not dropping them, we all know it. 15 Quote

Hogan is no chance but O.Mac has been poor for at least 2 months now and Keilty is in form. I know who I would be choosing. 1 Quote

Didn't have the defensive impact of Frost, J Smith or Jetta. Similar game to Bernie who played a decent all around game, or Salem who started on fire and then make a few blues in the 2nd half. Uncontested possessions of various degrees of difficulty. Some nice kicks, a lot of handballs under pressure that are still landing too high or low. Not so many dumb free kicks against, just the one to start with, and a bit less falling over. No big attacking or defensive runs, no intercepts marks or 3rd man in spoils and certainly noblistering kicks to open up play. Are you letting the stats sheet blur your opinion. The player ratings stats certainly weren't overly impressed with the game. Quote

deanox 10,070 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 JKH for Hannan is the only change I expect. JKH has had his second chance and didn't do enough. Maybe I'm being harsh because he missed that shot, but he doesn't get enough of it at AFL level to miss opportunities. Any other changes will be done for structural reasons (ie decide we want that extra tall etc). If Hibberd is fit he comes in for Vince or Smith. IMO it is Bernie because he played Hibberds role, while Smith is playing Levers role. I don't understand the Smith hate tonight I thought he did well. Bernie is playing attacking off HBF. Lots of meters gained, inside 50s and score involvements etc. Smith led the team for intercept posessions, and equal 2nd in contested possessions. 10 Quote

Should have had 4 goals. He doesn't demand the ball. Part of it is our team take a heap of bad options but a lot of it is the Watts problem. Once team mates know a player has lots belief they don't want to give it to them. If Garlett competes better at key moments and then calls for the ball, takes the game on and snaps some goals then he'll get the ball more. Agree he made some good positions, wheeling around to get on his right boot but he also did that a few times with the ball in dispute and didn't go and get it! Quote
