Nice one. Non-football question, so feel free to not ask it, but I was wondering how he got to be in the Aussie movie ‘Bootmen’. He played a tap dancer IIRC.

I'd like to have heard a little more about the back story of 186, perhaps next time someone from that era comes on again I'll submit a question.

Good idea, I would’ve liked to have heard about Neale as a coach and person plus what Brad is up to these days since he finished coaching and what he gets up to. Great interview though, interesting re Bails.

I get what you're saying but at the end of the day we aren't investigative journalists. We're not out to get the scoop. We want the interviews to be a general retrospective of their careers in the limited time that we have. We have no idea what the players thoughts or feelings are on a difficult subject; some might spill their guts others might be more reserved. We also want to keep getting players past and present on the podcast and not garner a reputation for asking difficult questions.

I was tossing up even asking Brad if he thought it was a kick in the guts to have the captaincy taken away from him when Mark Neeld came along.

It was another interview that certainly exceeded my expectations, keep up the great work, much appreciated

"I was tossing up even asking Brad if he thought it was a kick in the guts to have the captaincy taken away from him when Mark Neeld came along." - I think we know the answer already!

Great interview fellas. Again.

Not meaning to be patronising or give a back handed compliment (honestly) but your interview techniques have really improved from early days. Very professional.

Not a backhanded compliment. When we started doing this we'd never done it before so it's a work in progress. Same goes for the podcasts in general.

Whenever I listen back there is always things that I think that I should have asked or said and I hope that as we go along we'll improve.

I understand the premise of the podcast and I love it by the way listen religiously. But when Brad defended Bails a couple of times in the interview saying he shouldn’t of been sacked I think he even called it a travesty I’d of liked a little more depth about 186 seeing as though it was so pivotal

I’d just like to better understand 2 things from Brad’s perspective. How and why. It might not be the objective of the podcast I get it. But it’s what I would have asked.

Yep that’s fair enough, I enjoyed the interview otherwise. I thought brad was pretty open and honest about  the captaincy of Trengove and grimes, and that arguably was a difficult topic for him to talk about.

btw According to Wikipedia matthew Guy is a saints member ?

Maybe not with Brad but it would be interesting to hear about the actual 186 match itself. You would never get anyone to give a truly candid answer on a fan podcast but to find out the psyche of the players as the disaster was unfolding is something I would want to hear (maybe with a little bit of morbid curiosity).

The way I see it, you get to ask one awkward question per podcast. ;)

One day I'd love to hear what and how it all went down.  I've seen some thumpings handed out to some truly terrible teams over the years, but still none of them came even close to a margin of 186 points.  It's truly incredible and something of a statistical anomaly in our game.

I remember Brad being interviewed about 4 days before 186 by Mike Shehean.

I could tell something was wrong....butwe are yet to hear the full story

Next time instead of the Manchester United question let's hear more about his stint at Walsall*.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
