Went to do the AFL ladder predictor on the AFL website but seems to be down and not expected until mid year, which is ridiculous. Are there any others that people have used recently as I can’t find any?

Yes Steve I like to do it from round 1

What's happened?

Unsure mate but a bit annoying, probably AFL being control freaks, wanted to try it out for our run home

Is that the same ladder predictor that our club used before round 23 last year which prompted them to tell us about finals tickets??

In which case I think it would be better left down

:-((((

Heres mine...   bottom 6 is the same but huge differences in the top 2/3rds of the ladder.

Always fun, none of us will be right! Injuries, upsets and the unknowns will be the judge!

Bugger, have us missing out.  gonna be tight between us, WC, Hawks, Pies.

Big unknown is GWS. if injuries continue, they could fall heavily.

Where are our other 6 loses coming from? With Viney back in we will be unbeaten for the rest of the year mark my words.

My calculations are we should be 2nd.

Book your grand final tickets now?

Reminds me of my childhood backyard footy imaginary competition days back in 95/96, with my exercise book of completed fixtures and tabled ladders.. We were a force back then and went back to back. ?

I hope they remember you when you get it right. You have to believe in something.

I ran the autotip. Unfortunately it had us at 11th.

All comes down to algorithms used i appreciate. But they are essentially unbiased.

I think this year will have many ( too many ) similarities to last. % will be crucial and we've gifted so much already.

I have us at best 7th...worst 11th.

Gotta bring near the A team all games playing the best of A game ( and B variants ) for 4 qtrs...every game. A team doing this deserves September. Up to us...well..up to Goody/&Co and the lads.

Our lapses kill us...if we can't play our game...we lose.

Much work still required.

We cant afford to drop any easy games in the coming weeks or lose by a big margin, the pressure is already on us. Losses will make it a very long way home and we don't have an easy run later in the season.

I compared our draw to WCE, all i can say is WTF!! the Weagles have an armchair ride IMHO

the annoying thing is if I re-did my ladder predictor with the two NT games in Melb I would have us making the finals

errr, not to de-rail the thread or nuthin

Ah yes, WCE, Away games against Freo and Gold Coast in Perth help them, Collingwood and Hawthorn have easy runs also and don't even get me started on Richmonds draw (the year after they win the flag, equalisation anyone?).

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
