Training - 18 December, 2006

I read on the official MFC web site that training was scheduled for Monday 18/12, Victoria Park 10.00am.

Did any one get along?

They usually go there for interclub practice matches, I would have thought that it was a bit early in the pre-season for that.

There's a report and photos on Demonology.

The gist of the report from MK08 was:-

* a few players on rehab and a few absent

* Clint Bizzell is flying, looks fit and a stood out as a player who wants his spot back

* Lynden Dunn moves well, has good hands and was very impressive.

* Beamer did the whole session at top pace - great news!!!

* As has been mentioned in other reports, Simon Buckley has put on lots of muscle and now has the body of an AFL footballer.

* Juice Newtown was the FF for the whole session - perhaps the next Neitz

* Godders and Miller still can't kick!

* Leading in skills are Yze and Johnstone with Davey, Green close behind.

* Doggy has the best voice out on the track and is worth his spot on the list for team morale itself.

Great to hear Beamer got through a full training session at full pace!

If he is fit for next season, we're one step closer to a flag IMO. Add him into that great midfield balance from last season, with continued development from McLean, Jones, Bate, Sylvia, Bell, Batram etc and we truly will have a formidable midfield rotation :)

10 years ago that was our idea of a formidable midfield.  How times, and our expectations, have changed.

Also - take note of the person at training who labelled Juice Newton as the next Neitz.  At least our ability to go right over the top hasn't changed in a decade. :pj:

And yes, I'm bored and went back a few years.  Sue me!

CBF going back and having a look. Who was it, or do I need not ask?

In a former guise I mean...

He said 'pehaps the next Neitz'

You went back a decade and thats all you got.

Good one.

I'd like to see how Juice Newton would have gone with some proper player development. Wish we had Macca a decade ago.

I still have nightmares of that Sunday 5.40 pm game where Adelaide beat us about 7 goals to 4 at the G in front of 12k. We didn't kick a goal till the third quarter and Juice kicked about 4 out on the full from twenty out directly in front.

To me that will always be #peakjuice
