Arrived late but stayed till the end to watch Gawn put in an extra 20 mins of marking / running, after which Gawn then stayed and signed jumpers for another 30 mins. The bloke is a legend and can't wait to see him back out there.

There was merch / coffee and a great vibe for the morning, this for me shows how far the club has come in recent years even more so than our on-field progress.

A lot different from the dark days of 2012-13

Were they taking memberships? We are only about 20 off 41k!

Unfortunately,  no membership marquee was set up. They could have snuck a couple of new members in with the terrific turnout.

I didn't see him, would have loved to take a pic with him if he was there.

It's good to see Jack Watts moving freely and seemingly unencumbered by the rolled ankle he experienced earlier in the week.

Max Gawn looks good to go ... the snags are of the usual high quality and Jayden Hunt's sporting a blue headband.

I did notice on one occasion when he was doing some ruck work with Pedersen (before later switching with TMac) that after coming down from one of his leaps he lifted the bad ankle gingerly. Might still be a bit uncomfortable.

Is Max re growing the beard?

He is.  Nowhere near as impressive as the one he had but it appears to be on the way.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
