Not disagreeing but Le Cras (and a few other Eagles' players) are elite, and they're going to get off the chain from time to time, whatever happens. Best solution is to cut off supply further up the ground, which is where the turnovers really hurt us.

The turnovers are a problem when you are pushing up to attack, you get caught out with nowhere to go.

I think both Oliver and Hunt learned some great lessons last night. Priddis got off Clarry at a centre bounce for a goal at one stage that I'm sure will come up in the review.

I'm not too worried about these guys. I think Oliver is close to our best mid already and Hunt our most important running back.

Our game plan is seriously going to hurt us if we can't hit basic targets, we got caught on the counter a lot and it left our backline incredibly exposed. The Macs had a bad night but there isn't much they can do when they're caught outnumbered. 

We butchered so many golden opportunities to hit back at them on the rebound only hand back the advantage with woeful skills. Some were serial offenders, others weren't. We also missed Kent and Garlett, either one would've helped with crumbs.

Agree that Spencer is ahead of Weideman the issue I have is that Spencer playing means less time for Gawn in the ruck which is where he is most dangerous. As a forward Spencer only seems useful as a deep target, which takes away from Hogans game and crowds the forward line with a player who is useless if it goes to ground. At this stage Id rather just take Hogan and Watts as the only 2 tall forwards and have an extra midfield type to help with zoning and provide extra run.

Surely this game was another prime example of why ANB won't make it. How people think he has any attributes of a good inside mid at AFL level is beyond me. Yeah, he wracks up possessions in the VFL, but we know what standard that competition is.

He panics in tight situations, lacks the vision and poise, and as I've said repeatedly, he lacks a weapon in his game. I'd be playing Harmes and Bugg ahead of him and that's worryingly telling.

I know that stats are'nt everything but ABN's stats were:

15 poss     (7 kicks...8 hbs) 8 contested 7 uncontested

3 intersepts

4 marks

5 tackles

15 pressure acts

1 goal assist     4 score involvements

disposal eff  73%

0 clangers

There was quite a few of our players that didn't reach that mark   He has played just 15 games and is 20 years old

Well, I was conflicted about going backpacking this year and missing the footy and thought saving another year of scraps was a good choice. But after seeing the disposal against the Eagles and the zone being cut up I think now would be an advantagous time to do 9-12 months of travel while I'm young and watch our games from afar, hopefully only missing a final or two. We're certainly capable of going far if everything clicks and we get on a roll, but it's extremely unlikely we can seriously challenge for a flag this year. Better to come back next year to go to the mcg and etihad games, as a years development should see this team make a serious assault on the finals for a few years. Apologies if this is too cynical. Go Dees from the international pubs!

The most common observation apart from Clarry's brilliance, is that the defence keep getting caught out in transition and are generally to loose on their direct match up. 

Jetta has apparently slipped back in Goody's pecking order due to his apparent lack of damaging offence but I think it's clear we are lacking his defensive capability. I hope Goody makes the right call on this one.
