Hawks and Geelong will combine to get O'Meara, Crouch and Prestia.

The other 8 VIC clubs will be forced to feed off the scraps / C graders.

Oh, I just realised I'm not in the Optimistic thread...

Crouch doesn't add anything to our list that we don't already have, so no.

I'd be astonished if we targeted him.

Great users and a bit of speed is what we are after.

Crouch is neither of those.

You go after players that can win their own ball and Crouch certainly can. FWIW, if it came down to decision between Crouch or Prestia I'd take the latter, but I certainly wouldn't scoff at Crouch.

Rate him pretty high, but if I had the choice I would take Prestia, just. Well worth investing some effort into. We can trade 1 more future rd 1 pick but im not convinced the club will be too keen to do that 2 years in a row. That would tie our hands for the following 2 years.

Meh.

Prestia.

I'd take Prestia ahead of Crouch. Whilst I accept that Prestia has come off a knee reco, Crouch's injury record is ongoing.

Unless Crouch has suddenly developed an outside game, some speed and clean disposal since last night then no.

Well if we are to be honest, neither is Prestia

Prestia has both those attributes

They both have better foot skills and speed than MJones, ANB, Harmes, Trenners, stretch, JKH, BenKen, AVB or Terls.

Oliver, Viney and Tyson don't shine in these areas either.

Crouch and/or Pestia would be massive improvements to our midfield stocks.

I have no idea what the Crows would want in return. If he can't establish himself in the best 22 by the end of the year then it will hurt his trade value.

North Melbourne need to top up young talent quickly. I could see them out bidding us if it's picks the Crows want.

If you think Crouch has better speed than Jones, Harmes, Stretch or BenKen you need to look again.

Missed the word 'and' Red.

Even then, I still disagree. Speed is much more than running.

Matt Crouch is better.......

He looks better because he has had a pre-season. Brad Crouch has been limited. But talent wise, there is no comparison. Brad is a better user of the football. In fact, I think Brad is better in all areas. This is not to downplay Matt Crouch, I think he is an improving player (with a lot to offer), but Brad Crouch is a game changer. We should go all out for him IMO.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
