Site crashing

Hi all,

Tonight our server will go down for 10 mins or so (not sure what time) while our hosts up-spec our server and restart it.  Hopefully this puts an end to the crashing on game-day - interested in your feedback if you experience issues on Sunday night.

On another note, I haven't seen any of those errors on posting or double posts in a little while; is it just me or has this seem to have magically gone away?

I saw a few of those double posts in last weeks match discussion I think, it's definitely a lot better than it was though

I had issues the other day with quoting from my mobile, had to do the post then delete to reset trick. Hasn't happened since though.

Thanks for all your work trying to make the site as good as it can be.

The quotes getting stuck in the text box between posts is definitely a software issue.  This upgrade won't fix that - that'll happen in some future version of the software.

Haven't seen the double up in a while now

(just [censored] with you Nasher)

I believe ding is arguing with the AFL site owners for showing Melbourne beating Collingwood last week. He assured the world it couldn't happen and wants the error corrected.

I am still seeing double posts. Mostly the game day thread if that means anything.

Nasher,

only in the past couple of weeks has the following been occurring:

When posting or editing the post disappears due to the "server connection being reset"

I've learnt to copy all posts and then keep repeating until it finally works.....very strange!

Yes - when it occurs, the posts actually post twice, so all old double posts will remain. I'm more interested in whether or not recently made posts have come up twice. I haven't seen any for a while.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
