For those who think the FD is always trying to mislead us, I note that the mfc web page says he is out for at least a month and at the bottom it says 3-4 weeks.  Sounds to me that the crook info people moan about is more like 'no one really knows'  rather than assuming some conspiracy to keep Demonlanders in the dark.

I think as a general rule for every week you miss being unable to run you have to add an extra week of training before you play.

So if Vanders can't run next week that's 2 weeks without running, which means 2 weeks of training before he can play.

If he misses 3 weeks off legs then it might take 3 weeks of training to get him back.

The major delay will be if they bring him back too early and he then has to stop running again before restarting.

You've forgotten what he looks like at his best.

Yes at his best he would be in the team but so far this season he hasnt been at his best and probably wouldnt be in the team this week even if he was fit. Carrying this ankle may be the reason for the iffy form but i would be surprised if he came straight back into the side after this layoff. I expect him to play at Casey and earn it back. And if they want to have him play forward he needs to work on his finishing. He continues to miss shots he shouldnt.

That would explain his modest output in the first 3 rounds.

Give him as much time as it takes to get the ankle right - love to see him back fighting fit in the 2nd half of the season when types like Clarrie might be getting a bit weary.

Modest?

"Gees that's a tad harsh Bill"

Kicked the winner against GWS and was a foot off sealing one of our greatest come backs..

Vanders is a handy player for us. I think he will be one of those handy midseason inclusions as some of our other players start to tire.

I wish him well in his recovery and look forward to his return.

Better to have it managed and let him build up and feel fresh. He was doing ok but not in sparkling form in the first couple of games.

And, heh, hee hee, haw haw haw, we have players ready to come in to replace him. Chuckle. Snork snork snork.

(Sorry, that's just me processing this strange new reality we exist in)

Gotta remember, despite his solid frame and mature face, he's as new to AFL-level physical demands as any of the draftees, and should be building along steadily to a sustained career.

In the 'positive-realistic' world we are now experiencing, we'll see Vandenberg pushing for inclusion again as the team is trying to build a late run to the 2016 finals!

I forgot about this feeling.

Petracca will keep Vanders out of the forward line.

He is a midfielder. He is different to what we have there and has a place in the rotation when fit and in form.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
