I thought we had picks 3 and 7. Has it changed?

Although I would love to grab Curnow at 4, Matheison at 10 to add to the midfield mix if Weideman is unavailable

I dunno what planet youve been on for the last week but we've got picks 3 and 7

Don't know what planet you guys have been on, but that's how the new draft system will work. we have the 3rd and 7th live pick of the draft.

Some of the above clearly don't understand it, lol.

I should have said that we have been penalised for playing the system too well!

I agree that i don't think Francis will be available (unless we pick him at 3). One of Weideman or Curnow i'm hoping will be available at 7. If both are, instead of pulling my hair out wanting one or the other, i'll just back JT and his team in.

I think the assumption the lad is making is that he is taking into account bids on academy players.

From no level of expertise beyond reading a lot of other phantom drafts this certainly fits the common narrative.

If Essendon take both Curnow and Francis it really is heart in mouth stuff with the Gold Cast's pick, hoping they don't draft a tall - I imagine their probable pick was canvassed during the trade discussions.

My tip is as follows (not including the academy picks):

1) Weitering

2) Schache

3) Parish

4) Francis

5) Mathieson

6) Milera

7) Curnow

No way Weideman slips past 7

I'll be very surprised, if as you are predicting, we bid on Kennedy (GWS), I don't think Carlton will either - gotta be a sweetheart part of the pick trades we both made with GWS. I don't think GCS will bid on him either - it just creates bad karma for them with GWS in similar future situations. GWS has to be praying that Essendon doesn't bid on Hopper or Kennedy and then 10 is a live pick.

Thinking about it more i have decided to change

1. Jacob Weitering - Carlton

2. Josh Schache - Brisbane

3. Charlie Curnow - Melbourne

4. Darcy Parish - Essendon

5. Aaron Francis - Essendon

6. Wayne Milera - Gold Coast (again, hoping they don't take Weidman)

7. Sam Weidman - Melbourne

If Essendon take Weidman, Gold Coast will take Francis and i reckon we should take Mathieson to bolster our mids

Have heard from a reliable contact that he has a lot of work to do on his consistency/endurance

Could slip to 10-15

I would rather Wieideman + Curnow more than Weideman/Curnow + Parish

Parish doesn't excite me

From reports on the site, Goodwin is set on him. My concern is the way he's testing he just doesnt seem to be outstanding in any of the categories. I know it's not the be all and end all. Watts was outstanding, Sam Mitchell was very average for example. But There is a chance with Parish that he jumps up to the next level and gets found out by the pace , and the physical and aerobic intensity. Risk for any draftee I guess. I dont have enough facts nor have ever seen him live so I just hoping that whoever is making the choice gets it right. Really can make or break this clubs aspirations.

So no chance we take Weid at 3?

The noise I'm hearing is that Parish is a lock at 3 and we are hoping for Curnow at 7

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
