Wish Dawes would mark like that.

Already an upgrade.

Taberner...wonder if we will get involved in the move to get McCarthy to Freo. They won't have enough currency unless they give up a player or 2 but GWS will need picks to satisfy their academy bids.

Just thinking out loud.

His lack of progress this year has frustrated me. Freo seem reluctant to pinch hit him in the ruck and/or play him Pav and 2nd ruck.

He'd probably still be part of their future alongside McCarthy. Michael Apeness is a 201cm ruck/forward who I'd be keen on of the Freo back ups.

He's so good he's been delisted ahead of Butcher.

The "highlights" are super average too.

They always have a 2nd ruck so don't need him to pinch hit but he has a lot of talent. Anyway, as I say I was just thinking aloud. Freo will have to give up something if they want to get McCarthy...

I don't think we need a ruck/forward, we do need a forward who can pinch hit in the ruck.

Hinkley thinks Butcher will make it as a defender. They have given up on the thought of him as a forward.

BUMP (For the Cheese Board)

With Hogan stil likely moving on (my opinion) I expect us to recruit a mature age forward late in the draft in the chance one of Weideman or Tommy Mc were to cop an injury. And three years later I still think this is our guy.

Since going back to the WAFL he's kicked over 140 goals in the last three years!

Averaging 11 touches, 6 marks and more then 2 goals a game. Will be 25 at the start of next season, has an ability to go into the ruck and could be a handy insurance selection for our first year post Hogan.

Absolutely. Best forward outside the AFL.  Would need a 2-year contract to make the Nullarbor crossing.

Based on what exactly.

Probably will sign with Freo given they have no idea how to trade forwards into the club......

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
