Well done Lads!

I must say that this has been the most inspiring win from our boys that I have seen for a long time (if ever)!

All the experts gave us no hope, most Demonlanders (including myself) similarly felt it was a waste of petrol journey down the Geelong Road and (after all) we were playing at the Cattery with many of our Stars out. This was the day we rested Hogan, played our young lads (Stretch and ANB) to get games into them and played guys such as M. Jones and Bail, who most people were clambering to delist. Nobody thougt we were a remote chance, however the impossible happened because our lads:

1) played with vigour,

2) played as a team,

3) backed themselves and each other, and

4) showed determination.

It was particularly exciting to watch how they lifted in the last ten minutes and put the game beyond doubt. There was question unlike the previous week (when most assumed it was a winnable match)!

This team has a future next year when:

1) Hogan, Kent and JKH resume in the Forward mix,

2) Petracca, Trengrove and Vanders are inserted into our midfield mix,

3) Salem, Garland and Grimes resume in the Back half,

4) we have some good veratile talls who can play front and back (Frost, Fitzy, Pederson),

5) Gawn and Spencil have another dozen games under their belt,

6) ANB, Stretch, O. McDonald and Harmes all have more developed bodies and more confidence, and

7) it dawns that we have some depth after all hidden away (M. Jones).

Conratulations to Vince, Tyson, Brayshaw, Garlett, Dunn and all those responsible for showing leadership yesterday! I am feeling very bullish about our future. Does anyone feel otherwise?

Jamar just lost his playing licence yesterday.

Unfortunate but these things happen to all older players at some stage.

Bail played his first 4 quarter game along with a few others, the team effort thing was actually a "team effort thing" for once.

What an awesome effort from the entire team, and a welcome surprise for all the long suffering supporters. This win goes down in the memory banks and helps to eradicate the past experiences at the cattery. Fantastic for the MFC!

Loved Matty Jones

Took his opportunity showed he can do it at this level

Loved watching best mates, ANB and young Strech, arm in arm singing the song for the first (of many) time. Must been a special moment for them and their families. I bet old Steven would of been belting the song out where ever he was

There were 6 players sitting behind us all day and when we got well in front during the last quarter i turned around and said "well that gets rid of 186",got smiles from the players as they rushed down to the concourse to be part of the win.

It seemed that a new dawn had arrived for the playing list, and was beautiful to see.

Yeah but where to put them and for whom!....can we ask the afl for special dispensation to allow an extended bench for 35

Victories earn Respect. A few of our young boys may have ended a few denior careers

I hope so as old habits die hard. Such a shame it wasn't 2 in a row

But maybe a few of our young guns were angry....

Think you are right there SWYL.

At the siren of last weeks St K game young and senior players were truly gutted.

That loss hurt and cut deep. They knew they, collectively let it slip!

That hurt stuck in their craw all week and they were out for redemption!

Finally, finally, losing hurt!

Could well be the StK loss was more of a turning point than yesterdays victory.

Definitely had an influence on the final result, when Geelong got close with 6mins to go, i think it was on everyones mind....

I am still angry about the Aints game mainly because it has put the final 8 beyond reach, but if infact it is the catalyst that actually woke this club up then i can deal with that.

Id be happy with 9th. (sort of)

the next psychological barrier is to back it up the following week. I am glad we are playing Meth Coke.

It will mean the effort must be switched on to have any chance of winning

But that wouldn't really be fair to Richmond... where will they finish?

Despite the fact he didn't have a disposal in the first half, I loved Howe's game. Threw himself at everything and helped bring the ball to ground.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
