dash that confounded black scourge

..... oh, & Man Haron Monis, to boot

Brandis has nothing but arrogance for the people, and the parliament.

.......... rhyme without reason. Here was an Attorney General who, despite his onerous responsibilities at the fulcrum of the war on terrorism, wanted it known he did not have a worry in the world. Certainly there was no sense of him being vexed by his own department's bungled handling of correspondence with the Martin Place siege gunman, Man Haron Monis.

Nor, as would be revealed the next day, that parliament had been misled over it, necessitating an embarrassing correction of the record.

The incident fits into a pattern of political snafus and has fuelled speculation that the nation's first law officer could become the most senior political casualty of a mooted pre-election reshuffle towards the end of this year.

Although, he might be pipped in that dubious distinction by the increasingly plausible demise of an even bigger scalp, that of Treasurer Joe Hockey.

'An anthology of Australian poetry'

helps to keep the Attorney-General George Brandis amused, during a typically dull Senate estimates hearing on Thursday.

Brandis brushes up on bush poetry in estimates

maybe some Poetic justice is required for his attitude

"Brandis has failed miserably. On his watch we have seen a marked increase in the power of the executive over the individual and the courts. "

It's stunning television watching the ABC defend that terrorist sympathizer they had on after mocking George "people have the right to be bigots" Brandis.

again; you obviously care little & can't believe in peoples rights. He also has rights as an Australian citizen, to air his thoughts, even if we all don't like him. you obviously don't believe in peoples abilities to decide for themselves, what they think.

that Islamist is more likely to turn Australians off the radical islamists ideas.

You might need to re-read what I posted.I mock the ABC for defending people's right to be bigoted now because they sure as hell didn't support George Brandis. Where were the ABC on Andrew Bolt's freedom of speech and the peoples ability to decide for themselves?

And the reality is the terrorist sympathiser that was gifted a question on prime time television by the ABC has had no restriction on his speech. He is perfectly entitled to write on twitter, Facebook etc... As far as I am aware none of the racist, sexist or hateful speech he has written has seen him locked up or had a court ordered removal. Whereas Andrew Bolt has had a court ordered removal. Did you defend his right to speak?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
