Jonesy said it perfecty, Vanders is hungry for the contest. Watched him blossom in the NEAFL last season and was in the best every week, was rapt when we called out his name. He will only get better in an AFL environment and seems a really natural footballer. Exciting

along with Howe one of the more asute recruiting decisions in our recent history ( it would seem.. only very early) But get another pre season and he could be our J Kennedy midfielder for the next 5-6 years.

Son of "Schwartzer". Amazing resemblance...

Clint Biz will put this vid in his hidden porn folder.

Love the look on his face as they were walking out on the ground. There was a Dude who was crapping himself. Didn't act like it in the game though.

I did tell him today he was flavour of the month on here with some posters wanting to have his children, was highly amused (also totally unsure whether he would survive the Dawes in)

You know your petty sniping is really tedious,, don't read what I post or quote or reply, but then again if you did that you would have no input to a topic would you?

Likewise. Thought you had me on ignore. Please do.

I know logically I'm going wayyy too early on him but I think if he can establish a spot in the team he will be my favourite demon very soon. You could see how much he wanted to make his debut in that video and the part with him being told by Roos was uplifting. It's so nice to see someone who wants nothing more than to play at the highest level and doesn't take it for granted like some other players seem to. There was no chance he was getting dropped this week, as I said in an earlier post, he provides a different something to the other players in our midfield rotation in that he is a physical beast. Viney and Jones have the same attributes but without the size, it's something we have sorely lacked (amongst other skills).

Maybe he can become "SOS 2", like 'Son of Silvagni' who was recruited by Freo from right under our noses (Casey Scorpions) in the same year that they grabbed Michael Barlow from Werribee! Each of these guys are testimony that the minor leagues are overlooked at our peril.

Vanders may be playing against another former Casey recruit this weekend, Mohr at GWS.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
