AFL - Round 1 (non MFC games)

Featured Replies

Geelong played a worse game in mid season last year but managed to regroup to put in some good performances before going out of the finals in straight sets.

Definitely on the decline. They have a lot of players coming to the end of their tether and I'm not sure whether the combination of Hawkins and Clark is really going to work - their forward line looked cluttered and one paced.

A lot of their star players are near the end and under Scott the Cats haven't learned a defensive game. Of course they haven't needed it in the past where they went all out attack with the class to do it. As we have seen under Bailey, if you don't have the cattle you can cop a few good beltings with this approach and I think this will be more the norm for them.

Yes I agree Curry.

I posted on this forum , when Frawley was still a Dee, that his communication skills were roughly equivalent to a pot plant.

No offense meant to pot plants.

yeah, yeah bbo......but what type of pot plant

some pot plants are sharper than others

Someone else can make the AFL game thread for this week, I dont want to steal the limelight again

Well folks, do we stick to our predictions of no more than 4-6 wins and bottom four?

Some of the sides we thought we wouldn't beat looked pretty bog ordinary this round.

Bears. West Coke. Norf. Even the Pus Kitties. Not to mention the Baggers and the Colliwobbles.

And that win against the Doggies in NAB Challenge not looking so bad now.

I thought the number 8 was the magic number last time we did a wins prediction thread.. I still reckon that's about right

Yeah, and someone else can make the "changes for next week" thread this week. I can't cope with the fame and adulation that has come with it.

you are an admin, its ok for you to make it again

Seems about right. Still hope we can grab a couple more but 8 would be on track.

My biggest highlight? Carlton are firmly, firmly in the poo.

As, we hope, are the Whinge-aroos!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
