2014 Player Review - # 12 Dom Tyson

The first-year Demon and ex-Giant entered 2014 with a handful of matches to his name, and by the seasons end was one of Melbournes best players. He showed maturity beyond his 21 years and was an outstanding recruit for the club.

What impressed me so much about Tyson was that he managed to play every game on the back of a late start to the pre-season.

Will no doubt be a star in the future and well worth the trade.

finally, we have a youngster who's able to come in and make an immediate impact! admittedly had two years in the system, but he had a fresh energy to him that was irresistible. his ability to extract the ball is simon black-like, and his love of a goal makes him the sort of threatening midfielder that we've been crying out for for a long, long time.

he's going to be a weapon for us if he can maintain fitness and we get some support for him and jones in the middle.

Absolute gun in the making. Pushed forward and kicked 16 goals tok which is impressive. Will only get better.

My best supercoach selection of the year.

When he gets a full pre-season in him then he'll just get even better, the kid has only played 35 games and he's already a star for us. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this young man, he's going to be one of the leagues best in the coming years.

Exceeded even the most wild of expectations this season. Hopefully he can take another step forward in 2015.

Can someone confirm why a player like Sutcliffe from Freo made the best "22 under 22" ahead of Tyson.

Less about quality, more about exposure. Nobody watches the losers, unless it's to give them a kicking, so Dom Tyson just gets ignored, before he even has a chance to be forgotten.

Was brilliant. Amazing trade by Roos. Could be our best player by the end of next year.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
