To be honest, Brayshaw excites me more than Dangerfield.

I'm also going cold on the idea of forking over picks/players and lots of cap space to lure a 'big name' over. In the past I have been strongly for it, but we are now starting to show that a)we can actually develop our kids b)we know how to find imported players that don't 'cost' as much but make an important impact and c) the team as a whole has better effort/professionalism/respect/attention that is not crying out as badly for the services of a genuine elite. Makes it tempting to stay the course, build our own fortress and not go for the big play. Roos is the man though, I have no doubt we were close to landing a big fish last year, and he might go for it again, possibly using Howe in the equation.

We land dangerfield and we make finals easily next year...so why would anyone be against that idea...

Forget Dangerfield. He won't come to us. I suggest we go for Motlop - he's looking at offers from other clubs (heard on the radio)

Problem for us is that we need the type of player Dangerfield is, fast tough inside midfielder...a match winner

He's not worth $1m. That's for a younger Ablett, Buddy. Pendles is also a much better player. Scully, not so much.

We're covered for insiders could we get Motlop and Jetta for $1m?? Much prefer that!

We need to use our cap wisely to retain the young talent on the list, dangerfield is individually brilliant but not a brilliant team player. Next mfc who gets 1 mil a year plus should be jesse hogan

Hey Dazzle will you never post again if Danger comes to the MFC?

You do know that Dazzle was taking the [censored] out of Hogans Hero's when he posted that don't you?

Dangerfield is 25 and he isn't just an inside player.

Danger in the middle next year would be sensational with Bernie Angus The Jones Boy and Cross

One can dream....

Kidding yourself if you don't want Dangerfield

The only danger (*boom tish*) is how do we keep Hogan and the co if we have to pay Danger $1mil plus?

How do other teams afford all their good players? You can fit more than one big salary in the cap. $1 mil? That's the combined wages of Jamar, Garland, & Howe, none of whom will be at our club next year.

Never has so much sense been posted on this forum! Hogan for 10 years should be our priority next year (even though he's signed to 2017). Freo will be circling with 1 mill a year. Hogan should get more than that

Lol yeah lots of "sense"... Freo can afford all their stars and $1mil for Hogan, but we can't afford our C grade list and Dangerfield.... Far out.

He will stay in Adelaide.

He would be an idiot to go to Geelong, they are sliding and about to lose a bunch of their aging stars and their young players arent that impressive.

Dangerfield isnt going to save them.

He wouldn't choose Geelong so that he could have guaranteed success. You do read right?

He will choose his team based on likelihood of success.

Not only do I read but I can also tell whats fact and whats fiction.

I might be mad as i would offer 10mill over 7 years , front loaded , we have more than enough room in our salary cap. And enough to cover Hogan and others when needed .

you want to make finals next year, we will with him , we need that 24/25 year player and not just one

Then who do we want?

There's no longer many A grade mids available in the FA market.

Work the trade period again? If we have a good run home we'll have a weaker hand to deal with.

FA has actually brought with it a new paradigm whereby players may look to get out of contracts early and clubs may cut their losses and do a trade.

What I'm saying is, I wouldn't just be looking on the FA market.

We land dangerfield and we make finals easily next year...so why would anyone be against that idea...

You could argue a bit more short term pain for long term gain. I'm inclined to agree about preferring not to sign Dangerfield, but of course if we were to sign him I'd be very excited.

Yes I agree, lets concentrate on the kids at GWS & the Suns, plus a Prestia... that should suffice. oh and did I forget to mention, Hendo's son?

we don't want whats happening at the suns re gablett... to happen with us.

lets back away gracefully from the danger of me me me types.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
