Mike Sheahan for president?

Featured Replies

I can just see him in board meetings continually looking left and right. Yeah, let's get him. [censored], let's also get Patrick Smith.

And that Denham bloke!!!

How bout Greg Denham?? Ok ok...just kidding. David King then? He at least called the appointment of Neeld a disaster in the making very early! Anyone?

Where did you arrive at Mike Sheahan?

Mike Sheahan is a MFC member ( or used to be ) as I went in on the tram with him to an AGM. Think I would prefer Kennett as the high-profile President but I like the idea of Mike on the board.

I'd rather he just stayed on the couch

I dont see how anyone can make a difference, the preisdent cant make the list play better everyone thinks that maybe jeff developed buddy roughy hodgy. Luck and good recruiting is the only way the list can improve, I think u will find that pederson will be a good pick up I cant fault his game yesterday, roden is good value as a role model for Dom barry, and he is a good trainer.

ITs the C0ACH

That is exactly what they said about Daniher and Bailey as well and changing them did not bring success. When does it become the playing list?

Ok jokes aside but what about Glenn Lovett? Is a very and I mean very successful businessman and had a lot of passion for the Dees.

Glenn might have a bit of trouble sitting in the President's chair at Board meetings. He lives in London.

STRIKE ME PINK! (said in my best Alf Stewart voice) Are people serious? Mike Sheahan as president? Has he ever run a business before or NPO? David Schwarz has also been mentioned here as presidential material and as much as I like his passion, he clearly doesn't have the credentials. Mike Sheahan has even bloody less credentials. Are we that bereft of ideas and so obsessed with personalities and celebrities that we are willing to have anyone on the board so long as they have a media profile? Why not run it as a reality TV show? Melbourne Demons Survivor starring Garry Lyon, David Schwarz, Derryn Hinch, Mike Sheahan, Greggy Evans and Mal Walden. All six get locked into a radio studio with ample food, water and sanitation and the one who can provide the most media friendly soundbites to the members of Demonland gets elected president.

Get serious. It's our obsession with personality and a 'savior' that allows a nimrod like Kennett to stick his bonce into our club politics. While I'm not happy with what's going on on the field, we at least seem to have a tentative path forward in fixing our FD and board up. However, like a cat distracted by a laser pointer, we forget all that when the chance to rub shoulders with a celebrity comes up. Stuff process. Jeff is here to turn things around. Or maybe we can get Mike Sheahan on board? How about getting f***ing Fat Cat out of retirement to lead the board? He should be popular with the youth demographic we need.
Rant off.

Russell Howcroft?

Hamish Blake. He is a Dees supporter and then at least we would all get a laugh at meetings and if he called a press conference.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
