Geelong v Casey Scorpions

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

This game is a special fixture and is being played tomorrow night (Friday) Sunday at Skilled Stadium at 6pm 1pm, a ground possibly too far for me to attend given its distance from my work and the time of the game.

Appreciate if any fans can keep us all informed as to what's happening.

I'll be back with the teams later this evening.

Great work (or luck) from the Scorps getting involved in the first game at skilled under lights!

NO LIGHTS!

It appears there's a time change and the game's now being played on Sunday at 1pm at Skilled.

Ill be heading along to this game so ill post some updates for everyone.

Thanks AJ.

If you could keep a keen eye on Fitzy during the game it would be appreciated. There's a lot of noise in support of him making the main team so an opinion would be great.

Is Taggert playing in this game? Could not see his name on the list of the Scorpians final 23 on the VFL website.

The only MFC listed players who played in the development league game today were rookie Nathan Stark and NZ international Maia Westrupp.

Rory Taggert will probably play for Casey seniors tomorrow.

I'd love a report on Mitch Clisby, he's battled a few injuries (Hamstring and shin soreness) but when fit has played well and started games racking up the touches.

I think he's a cheeky chance for rookie elevation in the second half of the year.

Blease and Strauss starting positions is puzzling to me

Strauss is in Perth so don't worry too much about that one. Not sure if both or just one of Gillies and Spencer are in Perth as well. For Casey's case I particularly hope Spencer will be be at Geelong.

I'd love to see Blease in the backline but I feel it would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater particularly considering he strung good games together up forward last year. Plus Terlich, Watts, Jetta, Clisby and Strauss are all being developed as small defenders. We can't send everyone to the bacline to find form.

Ah ok, I just did not seem him on the final side on the VFL website.

First four now. Scorps defensive work and intensity around the contest is good but letting themselves down with horrendous delivery inside the forward 50. Few drops of rain now.

Quarter time score Casey 0.6 v Geelong 4.1 after Hogan hit the post after the siren after taking a pack mark over three Geelong players. Casey had more inside 50s but disposal going in so bad. At one stage Hogan had twenty metres on his opponent and Sam blease kicked the ball another twenty over his head!

Thanks so much AJ

Liked to hear 4 youngsters going well - Kent, Clisby and Hogan, Fitzy

Don't know to much about Clisby but he seems to have more class and potential than most rookies - anyone think has more potential than the Nicho or Bail, Couch types?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
