When we have Dawes ,Hogan and Clark up forward with Gawn resting there, we will be virtually unstoppable up forward.

This is what we have to sell to an A grade midfielder, in the hope of luring him across next year.

The thing about these guys is that they're all mobile talls. Whilst I think we'll eventually need a classy crumber (or two!) to go all the way, I think if we improve our midfield, that forwardline will certainly be capable of cracking the top 8.

Number 1 priority for 2014 - find an elite crumbing forward to feed off the Clark/Dawes/Hogan trio

and the game plan will be simple - move the ball as fast as possible and kick it in long every time

need to win the ball before the forward line even come into the equation.

We need top line mids (which is obvious i would have thought!)

Yep, DemonWA. Midfielders, midfielders and midfielders.

Incidentally, I'm not sure I believe that midfielders are easier to find than KPP, which seems to be the common perception. I know we've stuffed up a few selections, but I haven't seen an A grade MFC mid in my life time (25 years).

I think if we had won the flag in 2000, people would be more comfortable calling the gun on ballers from that era A grade (Woey, Yze etc).

But i get your point, lots of midfielders play AFL, but very few are 'A grade'

Woey was gone two years later and had one superb season with us. He was A grade for one season I reckon. While Yze was a great talent, but would go missing in big games. Had the skills and x-factor of the very best, but not the consistency IMO.

goal kicking mids who a naturals forward - LeCras

we can't afford to have a Milne... one dimensional. it hurts to be one dimensional in Grand Finals. Lyons weakness.

swift mids/half forwards who are excellent at sharking the spilled ball.

I would chase LeCras, or a Rory Sloane type.

I have, Nat Jones.

I would love to have a one dimensional Milne that kicks 600 goals in 250 games for the MFC.

You are being trolled.

School holidays.

I must say I thought the same thing. Suddenly bursting into song after two years a member lol Although he does seem to have posted in two other threads. Seems to have read a bit of the Satyr though.

you wouldn't consider shane woewodin, adam yze, cameron bruce and travis jonstone at their best A grade?

New Poster - Fresh Meat - keyboards and vitriol at the ready

only if you come out all guns blazing, and anyone that does that I'm sure isn't the slightest bit bothered at having the ball hit back hard

you wouldn't consider shane woewodin, adam yze, cameron bruce and travis jonstone at their best A grade?

each individually, for moments, yes, but never consistently together did they combine as an A grade unit, not even close

...not me 'mjt'. would rather spend my money someone with a few more tricks, he doesn't do it in the big games.

Can't believe no-one has raised the issue of the MFC not having a boot room yet!! No wonder this club can't win games, what an absolute disgrace!

:)

I trust that was tongue in cheek ;-)))

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
