A CLUB IN CRISIS ... THE AFL MUST STEP IN

Featured Replies

What about McLardy, HT. He backed this guy to the hilt. Endorsed his three-year contract not a few months ago.

Surely he must walk in due course as well, no?

Pi55 off troll.

Just goes to show that the great American philosopher Thomas Paine was right when he said -

"To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead."

And what was that Einstein quote about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome? Something about stupidity? Engaging certain members of this site and expecting a change is clearly stupid! I'll learn.

You are a no-nothing, ignorant twerp. Always wrong on just about every issue.

And now you're on ignore.

I love the Melbourne Football Club, you love to try and bring it down, you've already started your next mission trying to get rid of McLardy.

Wrack off troll.

i bet you a few 100 it was an AFL directive if you read Don's letter from yesterday.

That said Cam stood down with complete dignity intact and i applaud him for that.

Of course they did, WYL.

It's called the 'tap on the shoulder'.

The AFL are all over this.

Another one from Einstein -

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Good.

Last saturday was proof that right now we are out of our depth.

We must take assistance.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

No I am not the the older brother I just feel old and barracking for the Demons for 57 years will do that to you.

Alleged call came after round 1 and cannot name source but rumour arose at launch of another league where one of the coaches works for the AFL (probably said too much). Same night was rumour that AFL would take over admin of Demons within a month unless things improved....they haven't

Thanks for that Older. Fascinating and proof that hidden in the the dross there is sometimnes some nuggets of gold on this site. One assumes today's announcement relates to the second rumor.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

From the man himself. Thanks!

The irony is beautiful.

And so is me responding to you again.

The MFC can now finally move on from 186.

Melbourne football club should go hard for Adrian Anderson

Haha yes to get over the tanking culture we should get in the guy that charged us with tanking... hmmmmmmm

Anderson would be an excellent choice right now.

I don't take delight in being right. But I will say that the way some of you attacked me here was shameful.

There's debate and then there's belittling a fellow Dees man and trying to get him banned for voicing an opinion.

Have a good hard long look some of you (Stuie, Satyricon etc)

The hypocrisy stemming from this post is insane.

You are not the only one to hold the views you hold; plenty of others agreed with your positions re: Schwab, McLardy, Neeld etc.

You, though, are the only one to consistently shove them down everyone else's throats (e.g. all the threads you start). Simultaneously, you do not engage in debate with anyone, you merely provide one-liners like '32-102' or 'it's OK, you'll turn eventually' or references to addiction.

It's OK for you to believe what you believe, you seemingly genuinely care about where this club goes in the future. But you never ever accept anyone else's opinion, you never engage in debate with someone who disagrees with you, and you regularly put down anyone who disagrees with you.

You're the one who belittles, RR, and you're the one whose conduct is shameful.

Anderson would be an excellent choice right now.

Hire someone Vlad got fired to replace someone else Vlad got fired?

I don't mind the idea of Anderson taking on the role despite his involvement in the tanking investigation.

He'll have a better knowledge of the club than many of the other possible candidates, and has probably looked at it in a much more critical way given his past duties.

I call it the 'mallet to the back of the head' approach. Shock therapy. It's not something I take pleasure in ... but a lot of you were that far in denial.

I was right that he had to go now. Not at the end of the year. Not next week. Now.

And so it was proven.

Quit being such an over-sensitive sook about it.

Another quote from the archives ...

You have to make it fall.

Intervention by the AFL is starting to appeal.

The first thing we do under the patronage of the AFL is organise three priority picks for the November draft as well as the right to sign up Lachie Whitfield under special concessionary rules and Buddy Franklin as a free agent for $2m per annum which will be a recurring concession outside the salary cap. Included in our cap will be the money we play his layabout old man for acting as our CEO while someone at AFL does the real work.

Next we award ourselves the four points for each of the two opening games as a result of the ASADA penalty that wipes the entire Essendon team of 2012 which affects both Port and Essendon and actually puts us on top of the ladder.

Carlton will finally get charged with tanking. Not for 2005-7 but for this year (they're already 0-2 and worse to come).

I call it the 'mallet to the back of the head' approach. Shock therapy. It's not something I take pleasure in ...

Ha! What a load of rubbish troll. You have taken serious delight in the whole thing, why else would you PM people today saying "I win!"...

The sooner you are off this site and find another club to support destroy, the better.

First, you haven't been proven right that he had to go. You've been proven right that he would go now, but unless and until we see this decision have positive ramifications, you haven't been proven right on that.

Second, if you've already forgotten, you were the one who originally said you were 'belittled' and that people's conduct towards you was 'shameful'. If me using those terms makes me an 'over-sensitive sook', then you are the same thing. Hypocrite.

Finally, there you go again with a glib quote. You didn't make the apple fall. You picked the apple, then threw it at those with whom you disagree.

First, you haven't been proven right

Lol.

It's been fun, but I'm not going to let you make this thread about me.

This attack the messenger act is offically over.

Ignore.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
