I knew we were f@#ked before the first bounce. The Melbourne players all huddled together - all except for the bench. This only happens at melbourne where the camaraderie is clearly missing!

.Mitch clark - the guy hasn't played for 9 months and kicks the first 2 goals, did any get around him? NO!

.Jack Viney - first game, ripper goal does anyone get around him? NO!

.there is no encouragement, anyone who has played football understands how important camaraderie is! they have to get around each other, just show us that they frequin care!

. We (supporters) need a culture change as well. 200 power supporters out voiced us before the game and for me that set the tone for the rest of the day.Our entire club is weak and insipid!

Your last point about the Power supporters is so true, I was thinking that at the start of the match, in fact I said to my mate how terrible it is that the Melbourne cheer squad is not even firing up when I was sitting on the opposite side of the ground to the Power cheer squad and I could hear them clearly! All your points are true as, there is something very wrong at our club...

Mclardy might be a good man - but he is not a leader of young men. We need a president who represents what the club represents.

Dont blame McLardy for this debacle. The results sits fairly on the FD and the players.

I dont agree with you after Mitch kicked his goal everyone in the forward line ran up to him and the same with Jack Viney.

Couldn't agree more! i feel like a player wouldnt lower their head to him

We still have no leaders , Rodan and Byrnes second stringers who are way past it.

Gillies not AFL grade

I lost my passion for the game today.

We all have to get a life.

This is a club of duds.

There is no doubt about it, we are tetering right on the brink of extinction. We have been in trouble for a good decade at least, and today was a giant step back we didn't need. Makes me sick to my stomach that my poor old man is going to be alive to see 150+ years of history go down the gurgler in a sea of ignonimy. It completely blows my mind that generation after generation we cannot get the staff, coaches or players to reverse the trends, there is just a stench of failure attached to us and that is that. I suppose the question is now, will they live on in some other form, and will we support that form? Or have to start again with another club? Or give up the ghost altogether. How incredibly depressing.

I'm sick of having the pity of my mates and family who all support other teams and having absolutely no comeback for it. I don't feel like I've got anything to rest a hope on or get excited about. Jack viney is going to be good but one player does not a team make. Who knows what's going to happen this season, all sights point to another spoon and a possible coach sacking.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
