Travis Tuck

Would not have thought this guy was an option, but this article suggests we were somewhat interested last year and may be again this year, particularly given Slatterley's connection with Werribee.

My first reaction would have been a no, but I'd back in Slatterley and Neeld to have done the work to know what we're in for.

So, who knows?

Not sure he was any good before he got the boot. Wasn't he using because he was upset about not being able to get into the seniors? Don't think the risk is worth the gain on this one.

From what i read i says we were interested last year and that there is a link with Slatterly not renewed interest, just getting technical ...

I am for giving him a go, if he is the best available, really wants it and deserves it.

I know Brereton famously mentioned years ago during a preseason that he was one young Hawk to watch, such was his admiration of his ability, but he's been singularly unimpressive every time I've ever watched him.

I saw him on chanel two late in the year - not sure if it was a final, or not - and he looked hopeless. He was slow, an average kick, an average decision maker, and doesn't get a lot of it.

This year in the VFL he played 12 games, averaged 18.5 disposals - so he's no ball magnet - and was named only 3 times in the best - and even then 5th best was his optimum result (twice).

There's nothing about him I like.

I'm just passing on info (opinion), I don't think we should pick him up, unless we do pick him up because Neeld sees something (if that makes sense...)

I've never really followed the guy closely, never been interested, so that probably sums up what I think of him.

Well I'll go against the grain and say YEP I'd take him. Although, only on the basis that he is the best player to suit Neeld's mantra, and if he has got things together then he is worthy of a second chance with one year in the rookies.

In relation to was he any good? He was nothing fabulous before he was dropped but like the rest of the Tuck family they were late developers. His brother at Richmond is a gun and if he has shown excellent form at the Werribee Tigers and could turn out like his brother or Dad, that would please me.

Thanks for the article stuie good food for thought.

Think the coach said we would be taking at least one youngster as a rookie, so if we take Hannath the next pick will be a kid.

as it ought to be , i would have thought :)

Much will depend on what the football department thinks of his form. As I understand it, his other issues are well under control and I certainly wouldn't worry about Caro's input. Last I looked, she had nothing to do with the club's recruiting and, as far as I'm concerned, she would be a far less desirable person to have at the club than Travis Tuck.

I wish him well in his efforts to regain a place on an AFL list and I hope that if he gets the chance, he grabs it with both hands and sets a great example for all troubled youth.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
