2012 Player Review - # 24 Liam Jurrah

Varying circumstances didn't allow Liam to compete out on the field as we all know he can. Liam was only able to appear for Casey on occasion throughout the season. It is with regret that we have parted ways with Liam, and we wish him all the best for the future. - Leigh Brown (forward line coach) melbournefc.com.au

Almost certain to be delisted and possibly picked up by Port Adelaide as a rookie. Demonland wishes him good luck over the coming months, for the future and for the entire Yuendumu community which we embraced along with him.

Little bit of a pointless exercise isn't it? He played 1 game and is gone.

Liam Jurrah walked out on the club mid-year. He doesn't deserve a review, IMO.

I respect his value of family over football.

I understand that he needs to earn some money somehow but felt a bit let down that he left and didnt let us get anything for him.

I havent felt this dissapointed since, dare I say it, T$ bailed and when Jeff Farmer went back to Freo.

Best of luck to him.

In Adelaide they are saying good fit with Port cos they have a history of looking after indigenous players & Jurrah is the type of person that if you help him, look after him & do right by him would repay you & be happy at that club. Be a loyal player & give it his best.

What a load of [censored], we helped him with lawyers & gave him what he needed but he spat in our faces. Glad to see the back of his type we dont need people like him [censored].

Really?

Does the MFC recieve any compeensation for Liam considering he quit the club?

I understand his reasons, but are we left with nothing?

As I understand it( He is not contracted) unless Port wants to negotiate a transfer from the MFC then he can just nominate for the Draft or PSD.

In the same way that an out of contract player can do if he cannot reach agreement with his club.

The risk is any club can draft him

However who would at present. Port can just pick him as a mature Rookie and if he gets through the courts and has the desire the cost to them is small.

The worst case for Port is they waste a Rookie spot.

Whatever way you look at it the MFC get zero.

surely wyl this is a rhetorical question?

you know the rules

you know the rules

it was actually a legitimate question. Nothing more.

surely wyl this is a rhetorical question?

you know the rules

Are you sure about that Daisy?

Did MFC receive any compo for Wonna?

Will NM receive any compo for Campbell who has quit the Club?

you misunderstand my response

i was saying wyl should know the answer to his question because he (should) know the rules

and yes the answer is no AFL compo

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
