The goal you most went nuts over

Featured Replies

Neitz after he mangled Luke McCabe's shoulder.

Travis Johnstone in the granny after Whelan smashed Hird.

And the one Yze kicked from the city end right pocket, left foot checkside from the boundary that is probably the highest degree of difficulty I've ever seen.

That goal McLean kicked in the final V StKilda I went pretty mental.

That was an Elim final in 04.

Sadly Wheels wasn't in the GF. Poor guy.

Poor us. We'd have won...

2008 melb frem game where we came back from 50odd points down at half time, when we hit the front thanks to woneaemirri's goal in the dying minutes. never been so proud, was at the g that day, and the small crowd sounded like there were 100,000+ in the ground. (feel sorry for ther poor father and his son sitting in front of me who left at half time. he must have kicked himself)

video is worth watching from about 44 minutes in.

That's the winner.

If i recall, didn't Green have a clear paddock in front of him - when the siren went.?

You're thinking of the Brisbane game a few weeks later.

Up by a point, 37 minute mark of the last quarter.

Ball trapped in the BL forward line - spilt out to Aussie who motored away, took a few bounces, and hand balled to Green.

The siren sounded, Green banged home the "goal" and ran to the crowd to celebrate. Fun moment. Mediocre in the greater scheme (geez this club has sucked the fun out of it!)

Jack Watts vs Richmond 2011, sucks it out of the pack, and snaps it over the shoulder! WHAT-A-GOAL!

Cam Bruce vs. Carlton Qualifying Final 2000. I knew at that point we were home. Still the greatest Melbourne game I have seen.

It was a ripper. I thought the old smokers stand was going to take off that afternoon. So much pent up energy released...thank God Aaron Hammill knocked himself out. Without that happening Carlscum would have won.

Of course! Brain fade, I wasn't even at the granny... Memory must be slippin'.

Davey at 59:00 and 107:00... Thats what we've missed from him

Even though this was to get us within 30 points....Mitch Clark QB 2012. The only time this year when I felt as though we were in the game against one of the better teams of the comp at the poiny end and heard a crowd roar the way it should!

Some that come to mind:

2012: Jones' banana goal against the Bombers. I fell to my knees in celebration - a great moment. To a lesser extend, Garland's goal in the goal square.

2011: Watts' goal against Richmond (false dawn? sign of the future?)

Moloney's goal against the Bombers on the run from 55.

2010: Aussie's and Jurrah's goals against the Swans and Hawks.

2009: Jordan McMahon?

2008: Davey's and Wonaeamirri's goals against the Dockers

Miller's mark and goal at the 36 minute mark against the Lions

2007: Robbo's 7th after the siren against the Pies on QB

2006: Davey's goal against the Cats in round 6

Mclean's goal in the Elimination Final

Bruce's goal against the Swans

Neitz dobbing a heap from outside 50 against the Saints

Yze's goal against the Pies QB

2005: White's goal against the Dogs

Robbo's goals against the Cats and Bombers

Yze's goal against the Bombers to start the season

2004: Vardy in the wet against the Dockers

Johnstone's goal against the Bombers in the EF

2003: -

2002: Jonhstone/Yze against the Crows

Neitz's rampage against the Lions

2001: Leoncelli's goal against the Crows

2000: Woey against the Cats

Yze/Green/Bruce/Leoncelli against the Blues

Farmer against the Pies/Dockers/Roos

1999: (This was actually a point) Robbo against the Hawks

1998: Tingay against the Eagles

Farmer vs the Hawks

Lyon vs the Crows

All very fun moments at the time, yet looking back they're all pretty mediocre memories in the greater scheme of the game. Although, after a few wins I'll no doubt look back with utter joy...

To add to those 2006: Neitz goal on the turn QB

2011: All 2nd half goals vs Essendon

2007: Neitz goal from like 60 drop punt against Crows for our 1st win? for the year from memory

Junior's goal at princess park against Carlton round 4, 2008. 5 goals down to win. Ox/leoncelli goal against crows in round two 2002.

This bad boy, which suckered me into supporting this godforsaken club.

Thanks for that Dr.

Round 1, 2002 v Hawthorn.

Neitz irons out McCabe, collects the pill, turns and drills a ripper. I pitched a tent.

I'm interested in, recent and ones before I was born, goals in which you simply went nuts over the most. It gave you a license to just simply go nuts and yell as loudly and wildly as you could.

I'm going to start of and say

Jeff white vs western bulldogs '05.

Needed to kick it to keep us in the finals race with just 1 game, and a couple of minutes to go. Talk about pressure! Miss it, you're out of the finals race , win and you're just about in.

I went buzzurk like no other goal.

As soon as I saw this thread title I thought of this.

Nice story: I brought along a lukewarm supporter to this match in 05 and since Jeff White kicked that goal, he's come nearly every week to the G; and is pretty fanatical these days!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
