Top 5 in B&F this year

Jones will win and the top 10 will comprise Grimes, Rivers, Howe, Trengove, Frawley, McKenzie, Clark, McDonald and Garland.

Not fussed with the order.

I don't think Garland deserves a top 10 finish but given the current team line-up, it's understandable.

It looks fairly unanimous that Moloney and Sylvia will not feature in the Top 10. Damning.

I'd be blown away if McDonald didn't win most improved. Many didn't expect him to feature much this season, but he has become a regular and a damn good one at that. Blease has come along nicely this year, but I think that McDonald has this one in the bag.

I actually would not be surprised to see Magner just out of the top 5, purely on the strength of his first half of the season (likewise Clark)... he was going almost level pegging with Jones and Clark for some time in the Demonland player of the year stats.

I would think the top 5 will be:

Jones (couldn't get odds on that)

Howe

Grimes

McDonald

Rivers

Joel MacDonald 5th in the best and fairest would speak volumes for where this club is at.

It sure would. That's why I've got him there. Really hope next year he's not around the mark.

Aside from his first 3-4 games, I thought Magner was terrible. Too bulky, slow, poor skill execution and generally out of his depth at AFL level.

If Magner finishes in the top 10 I'll <insert idle threat here>. I reckon he's hanging on by the skin of his teeth for a second year on the rookie list.

Haha, yes... but after round 22, he was sitting equal 8th on the Demonland Player of the Year voting... so it is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility.

Surprised at how many left out Frawley

1. Jones

Flemington straight

2. Grimes

3. Frawley

4. Howe

5. Rivers

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
