I have been looking at the comparison between them both and i think Jack can step up his game in 2013 and become an elite Mid in the mould of Lenny.

First he must trim down, become leaner

Second he must have a huge preseason with the view to play mid all year.

Lenny is 186cm 83kg

Jack 187cm 85kg

I love the way Grimes goes about his footy and Neeld should make him set his style around Hayes in 2013 .

I love Grimes but it's easier said then done to become Lenny. While we are at it can we make Morton into Rioli, Cook into Darling, Gawn into Cox and so on and so on.

Now you are talking.

How much leaner do you want him to be? He looks skinny compared to Hayes, Hayes looks extremely powerful through the hips/trunk/upper legs.

that's just stupid unrealistic comment with a hint of sarcasm.

So whats your opinion to improvement, early Draft picks will solve our problems?

We need current senior players to take the next step and improve if we are going to get any where. and Grimes stepping it up in the Mid and basing his game around Hayes is realistic.

Just let Jack be Jack, time on the ground and he will develop into a very good player, maybe even to the elite level.

He will base his game on his strengths and by the sounds of things will work hard on his weakness to realise his potential.

hei Ash!

Funny thing you say that. A good mate barracks for Saints and strongly feels Hayes should take over the Captaincy from Reivolt next year. Hayes is an absolute star. Had him in my Supercoach team all year and followed his progress post knee OP. Absolute Profesional.

You know Ash...I think Grimes should just be J. Grimes and be a trailblazer. Still very young. Let others aspire to be him.

Ash is right. There is a lot of talk around early draft picks. If and when the current crop steps up a notch or two (Grimes, Trenners, Morto, McK, Spec and Fitz, Wattsy, Bleasey) this will go along, long way to Melbourne winning games. Lets not talk finals just winning a few will boost confidence. SUNDAY IS VITAL!! Fair concept re the Hayes idea.

Thai Id put money on at least two of those listed not being a demon next year but I agree with what your saying.

jamie bennell needs to be Wayne Carey I think that would be a good idea

Bennell if his knee comes good can be Eddie Betts! Pretty sure Neeld was working on this one.

Neeld likes McK hard tags. Will stay. Morto may well be traded. Still young enough.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
