But by all means howl at the moon...

Ok then ...

The soft culture grew thru the Daniher Era. The Bailey Era was one of recruiting young & skilled running players first, before the hardnosed ones, so 'List Management' was big then. Then he ran out of time, before we picked up the harder edge.

I think this is a bit of a myth, where are these skilled running players that were supposedly recruited, I haven't seen them in our senior team or at Casey. We seem to have a team of slow (exception of Blease and Nicholson) unskilled players (exception of Watts).

What you haven't seen, would be Morton, Bennell, Sylvia to a lesser extent, Bail, Strauss, Blease, Maric, Davey. None of these players have come on to a position where we could rely on them to give us a constant supply of class run & carry.

One Home Renovator bought a house in Smith St, to Jazz up & sell for profit.

One Home Buyer bought a house in Smith St, to renovate & move his family into.

Both houses had turned out to be in poor condition, with weak foundations, & hidden faults.

The Renovator got a Jack & hoisted the house up in parts & stacked bricks & wood under to level it. And put tape around electrical wires where they were worn & exposed. the plumbing was blocked & this was given a temp fix.

The renovator quickly plastered over the cracks & painted, sold this house to a young couple & moved on.

The Home Buyer took his time fixing things properly himself, one by one, methodically moving thru the issues in a logical order.

The Home owner spent more time but used much more care.

50 Years later the Home Buyers house has been extended & a further renovation done to it. It stands Tall & Proudly, in Smith street.

The other has been leveled, and is a retirement home these days.

Sooooo in 50 years we'll still be drafting "future stars" aka extensions?

A salient point that will not be understood by some, in fact they may assume Sandersons success is all his own and despite the Craig influence

Just coincidence then that it all happened when it did?

Why do people here have to be classified as either a Neeld man or a Bailey man?

And why is Bailey to blame for everything that's wrong with the world, while Neeld is seemingly beyond reproach?

Doesn't make sense to me, especially seeing we know more about Bailey than Neeld.

For the record, I've thought both seemed like good blokes, but to this stage I'm unimpressed by the coaching skills of either.

What a strange thing to say...

Do you have some inherited wealth?

Might explain some things.

My dad was a civil engineer that worked at VIC roads. Teachers wages.

Ive got a business that is doing alright tho.

Neeld brings a complicated and barely ever successful gameplan to an unsuitable MFC list and it doesn't work.

Sanderson implements a proven gameplan at AFC (essentially used at a few clubs) and it works.

I'll take the "barely successful" 2010 flag and 2011 GF thanks.

It'll be interesting this September to see how the "barely successful gameplan" goes against the "proven gameplan" - who knows maybe the Crows will manage more than 6 goals at home next time?

So Sanderson's sacked predecessor created Sanderson's success by producing a good playing list, but they didn't react positively to Sanderson's predecessor.

Neeld's plan failure is attributed to inheriting a poor playing list, despite the number of high draft picks and mid-range ladder performance in previous years, and its all his predecessor's fault anyway. Sanderson's predecessor sits in the background behind Neeld.

Yes fair analysis:

Neeld inherited a poorly drilled, poorly conditioned outfit and has to strip it back to move forward,

Sanderson has done very well on the back of a well drilled, well conditioned outfit and his real test is to come in the finals - flag or exit in straight sets from a home final?

I mentioned Blease, Davey and Silvia were recruited prior to Bailey. We don't seem to be overly quick or skilled though do we? So no matter what the philosophy the recruiting and development was sub par.

The 'barely successful gameplan' was the Pies in 2010 (lucky again to obtain a draw and replay) and the proven gameplan (2007, 2009 and 2011) was the Cats - I'll take the proven anytime!

I agree it will be very interesting in September - the Cats may yet again prove to be the masters of the proven gameplan.

Regardless, I believe that the quickest way to a win is to go as straight as possible to the goals and that's been the backbone of the game since it began.

What did RR do to upset you so?

RR's always on about agendas Biff - maybe he's got one of his own and you're onto it!

What did RR do to upset you so?

I merely exposed his inability to construct a coherent, logical argument.

It appears this repulses him.

We can only wonder and guess as to why.

I only have one agenda. To back the coach to implement his plan to improve the club.

What's yours?

Coherent and logical arguments are not popular around here - anyone who tries to construct one should be assisted to improve it, rather than crushed for trying.

Drop this line of questioning. Deleting your posts is getting tedious.

No problemo boss. Just keeping the b......... honest.

What did RR do to upset you so?

He enjoys the low blows. I should just ignore it.

So far this year the "barely ever successful gameplan" is 3-0 over the "proven gameplan", are you predicting a change of fortune come September?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
