Agreed Jose..... someone who excels as an assistant isn't necessarily a gun when in charge......

.......if we apply that logic with an open mind.......

......oh no.......blind faith meets a possible alternative explanation

Possible contributor to our predicament, but not the explanation.

The explanation has been evident for 5 bloody years, yet still people act as if it's some sort of revelation!

I've maintained for a long time now -- we will not be competitive until the substantard older players are gone, and Jones, Frawley, Grimes, etc have become our older experienced senior players.

Bailey was not the reason we were bad.

But as time went by, it became clear that he was not the man to bring us out of this.

Neeld has walked into this.

And he already has shown to be the right man for the job in many ways, more than most others could.

Chris Scott takes over a hardened Geelong side and wins a premiership in his first year. This year, he loses a few seniors players in Ling, Ottens, Milburn and Mooney and now look, they are a far cry from the dominant Geelong over the past 5 years.

Previous coaching administrations build momentum.

Fact.

I think your memory fails you - at the start of last year Geelong were not expected to succeed - it was Chris Scott's ability to manage his list that produced their flag! This year he is dealing with even more significant player losses - fair go!

It isn't about expectations to succeed, sure Geelong lost Ablett to the GC, but thats basically all, they still had the core team that served them so well under Thompson. Expectation is irrelevant to the argument Bollocks was trying to make.

It's a scary feeling isn't it because I am finding myself aligning with him on several fronts as well!

Yes and this I agree strongly on

I agree also. For too many years now we have had an less than average front running playing group and once the pressure is on we leaked like a tap. Bottom line the playing group voted for the current leadership group and in effect said the old leadership group were not leaders. And surprise surprise they are confirming why they are not the leaders we need at the MFC.

Neeld and the coaching group will remove this poisonous core once and for all....

The complexities of "fast food" list evaluation.

Fair point to make.

I thought you were trying to go down the path of "MFC is so much worse this year than last..."

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
