I hear Fultz maybe playing for the 76ers today. If he does, good luck to the kid! It’s unfair to call him a “bust” is he’s played 3 games

Congratulations to Ryan Broekhoff for his 2 year contract with NBA Dallas Mavericks.  Another successful graduate from Frankston basketball.

Loving the way the 76's are traveling atm beating the Spurs without Butler. Love what Brewer brings to team real energy his in your face antics to Harden a few nights ago was awesome. Embiid is a star and Simmons is an up and coming star. A lot to like about Phili.

The Warriors vs Rockets series has been incredible so far. 2-2! Every play and every shot has been significant. It's like a chess battle, very strategic matches. I'm riding every shot that the Rockets sink as I really want to see KD and the Warriors lose. I only pay attention at the tail end of the playoffs each year, but this one series has felt notably epic, maybe because the footy has been pretty miserable this year and these bball matches have been far more entertaining than any non-demon games.

Well it hasn't been a good week with the Victory and 76's eliminated. Leonard is a freak tough way to bow out but hopefully we can keep the same players together and Embid can be injury free for next year.

Are you watching the finals? Toronto has been incredible so far. Happy to support the non-warriors/kd team even with the Aussie Bogart in it. GSW=Hawthorn from 2013-15 to me. 3-1. I really hope they close out the series now. Leonard has been incredible in the field. I know KD is not in the team, but the way they've attacked with the extra pass to a 3 point line, or to a pick n roll with Siacam or Gasol. What a team. I really want them to win, but i kind of at the same time, dont want there to be 1 game left in the season. 3 more would be ace with Leonard hitting a 3 in game 7 at the buzzer lol

Nah I haven't watched any basketball since the heart breaking loss to the 6ers. but I've been keeping up with the scores and will be surprised if Toronto led by Leonard don't win even if Durant plays.

I see Durant was thrown out there in game 5 totally unprepared to play,  and tore his achilles.

Is Misson their fitness guy now?

GO PHILI! 5 AND 0 without Embid. Epic game against Trailblazers keep it up Phili.

Dallas will be a championship team in the next few seasons if they can find their third piece

Don't know what's wrong with Phili really struggling. I thought the inclusions of Horford and Richardson weren't as strong as the exclusions Butler and Reddick. It will be interesting to see if we are making up the numbers or a genuine premiership threat.

Lakers & Celtics leading their respective conferences ... that's a throwback

And haven't the Warriors fallen away?  Clippers have their next 5 at home so their record could easily improve.

There's a lot of teams in it this season including your Sixers.

Highly recommend watching the Houston v San Antanio double overtime game, it was absolutely off the hook! Big comeback, Big shots, Big Calls. Crowd going nuts, Patty Mills with a nice 3 and a getting an awesome offensive foul against Harden go his way. Brought back memories of a 90's rivalry

Can't stomach 'barracking' for Houston anymore the way Harden plays, especially the way he ended game 6 v Warriors last year with an offensive foul and giving the series away! So currently i'm following all significant games and rooting for underdogs! And of course, barracking for anyone but the Lakers! Nuggets have been impressive after a slow start. Toronto are probably my favourite to watch with Siakim, Boucher, Van Vleet all combining and playing such a good team game. Watching all Clippers and Lakers games as they seem to be the best teams playing the best ball! Dallas are also fun to watch with Luka. I admit i havent watched much Giannis and Milwaukee but i think its because their schedule has been very easy and they're due to play some big games soon.

For those without cable it seems that Viceland HD (Ch031) are covering a 'live' game of the NBA every day around lunchtime (including the Heat @ Nets on right now)

Live coverage of the NBL is quite frequent as well ... Brisbane vs Sydney 3pm today

First game of the best of 7 NBA Finals kicks off tomorrow at 10.30am (Celtics vs Mavs)

Those wanting to listen to the game can pick up the broadcast on ESPN Radio.  Otherwise, the games are on Foxtel/Kayo

As a Timberwolves fan who hates Celtic I'm hoping no one wins this.

But seriously I'll cheer on my multi and hate both teams. 😁🤣

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?

After kicking the first goal of the match the Demons were always playing catch up against the Saints in Alice Spring and could never make the most of their inside 50 entries to wrestle back the lead.
