Polkinghorne has had a 'green tick' since thursday and isn't in the 22?

How does that work?

Really late withdrawal?

Polikinghorne still has a bloody green tick!

It's funny, I now have an unrelenting hate for James Polkinghorne...

Congratulations Scarlett - A tough close contest all round.

No Mumford/ No replacement = 2 Very narrow losses

Mummy sort your back out son.

Anyone have a spare Ruckmen we can deal?

Just so we are clear, Mummy is not on the table, I just need a support ruckmen that actually plays.

I had Ian Callinan starting with a green tick. Didn't play!

Going by the closeness of the stats it's cost me the game.

Bloody annoying. Little stupid bugs like this take away from what is a great setup.

RR you should see my dreamteam this week - fyfe, grimes, lake, now carazzo!, young Greene rested at GWS, coniglio a late withdrawal Ffffaaaaarrrrkkkkkk

We have all had our moments, I lost Hille, first rd,Ball for season last week and now it looks likeI'll loose Robbie Gray for the year, but still belted last year's champ 14 to 1.

Ah. I got all excited. I'm willing to trade Maric and something for Mummy...

I guess I also have Vickery and Cordy that we could talk about?

Gee I hope I don't have to play you again Robbo...

Out of interest, is Carrazzo on the table now?

Actually you're right, it was just bad luck that he was a late withdrawal.

Hopefully I have a run of luck soon or we might have to have a 'tanking discussion' at board level.

Maric & something in mind for Mummy?

Jack Redden, Sam Mitchell or Scott Selwood & we might be very close

PS : Very nice win taking down the self pronounced 2012 Premier "Robbo 24"

Great close match! Maric really came to the fore for you today!

Not sure on Carrazzo. I definitely won't be dumping him as he'll be great value come finals time. He might be available for the right offer though.

Ha. Was a BIG win. 8 point game for sure. And yeah I misunderstood your original trade post. I thought Mummy was up. Never mind...

Still willing to discuss backups though, if you want to have a look.

I got pretty lucky in the end I think. Maric is a 25 hitout player, who does little else. And he somehow got... well... ALL of the hitouts this week. Hence why I hope I don't encounter you again.

Thoughts? Jeez our lists are big. Trading is a tricky prospect.

Ok for all those in dire straits regarding a playing ruck man - Hudson is officially on the table - 33 hit outs last week. He is my one and only ruck back up. Willing to trade for good midfielder as bernie Vince is now out for a week or 2. Otherwise would take an inconstant ruck man, who may be slightly injured or otherwise not playing due to form ( a la Stephan Martin) if packaged with a good midfielder for a package of say Hudson with Moloney for steak knives

I'd put Scully on the table, but I only just got him...

Really not something to brag about there HT - 99.9% of us would feel dirty owning the little Pri-k

He should of been universally boycotted in this leauge in 2012

SHAME

I'll have a look at trades tonight, but obviously with AD tomorrow there isn't much point...

Do we have a 'team isn't set in concrete until Friday' rule for this round?

Because, again, the I Hate James Polkinghorne Fan Club is right here, looking at a green tick...

I'd put Scully on the table, but I only just got him...

No doubt he will kill them this week, bringing you another WIN.Gee would love to place you in the lower deck, but think you will belt me again.Loosing Hille, Ball, Gray, and this week SJ really puts me behind the ball game. Also, doing this from Japan, is really hard work.

anyhow, enough excuses.Your odds on and I would not back myself.Your ruckman will win it for you, great strategy having two good ruckman whom gain lots of possessions.Just hope I make it interesting.Take pity on me, please

Good week to play Robbo24, No Carrazzo, no ablett - the door is ajar for me to sneak past. Might need some canny decisions though at selection table still

What's with the stupid Waiver system this year?

I can't remember having to battle through this red tape last year?

If we needed to top up a player after selection we simply recruited them from the player market.

& the players we bidded for earlier in the week have gone from April 27 to May 1 on the waiver system?

What am I missing here? Was this the same in season 2011?

I dump Jon Griffin and sure enough Sandilands pulls out and he's now first ruck for Freo.

Can't take a trick this year.

Why didn't you offer to trade him when I was begging?

Why didn't you offer to trade him when I was begging?

I thought he was worth peanuts given he hadn't played. He'll just as likely be straight out the following week when Sandi returns anyway.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.
