Interesting people saying we need to move on. Not so easy - I "invested" in believing him and even if I still maintain that I have no idea what was done when, I feel betrayed to the extent that his actions have flown in the face of his March presser. to say we wasted a number 1 draft pick is very stupid, we had our number 1 turned into 7+8 or something like that, which could end up being a winner, especially if 'the [censored] breaks down with injury his whole career which is distinctly possible

also, there is no way we would have Mitch Clark if 'the [censored]' had decided to soak up all that cash we offered him.. so if Clark ends up being an important player to us you can chalk that up us a win too

It depends upon which club(s) have priority pick(s) or use compo picks. I'm most likely wrong here but I think I read on another thread it would be 10-14.

Certainly not single digit first round pick anyway.

That's if we use them in the national draft(s).... Or we trade them in next year's mini draft for a chance at a higher quality return. Or trade them to net an established youngish star.

The question is, which alternate method will invariably achieve the quality midfield we desire ? TH & Co. are in the best position to decide that path.

it was bad luck we had a player ripe for the plucking at the moment the AFL was gifting a new club whatever they want

besides, it was 'luck' we got he and Trengove in the first place anyway, the AFL's garbage worked FOR us on that occasion

like I said, two first rounders plus the financial freedom to keep other young guns AND poach Mitch clark, for a player who is possibly injury-stuffed is not too bad an outcome for mine

I agree with everything you have said except we should have known better. Everyone would have taken Scully - everyone would have been duped. Nobody had the slightest suspicion except to think he was quiet, shy, focussed kid. Clubs have wasted picks on non performing talent, we wasted one on non performing character. Is that why the AFL didn't take any action against us after Bailey talked about "doing the best thing for the football club"? Was Vlad fully aware of Tom's movements, therefore allowing us to have the first 2 picks, knowing too well that we would lose one almost as soon as the ink dried on the contract?
