Breaking Bad finale time tomorrow. Badass!

And those podcasts are great. I've listened to all of them, and they provide so much interesting info about the show.

I can't wait.

Trying my best to stay off the internet today, I think it's screening in US pretty soon.

I've told the wife to check for torrents periodically during the day so we can watch it when I get home :D

Anyone who has an hour and a half spare, I highly recommend you listen to (at least) the last Breaking Bad podcast. It's basically a huge monologue by the show's creator. It's extremely interesting, and gives a great insight into the what-ifs and whyfores of the show. Highly recommended.

I wish I had time to listen to that.

Thanks for the link though, I might have to save it and listen to it in the car :)

I have the Breaking Bad pilot script. I've always loved the fact that Jesse's name was originally Dupree.

I agree, guys. Really fitting ending to one of my favourite shows of all time. I can't split it or 'The Shield' for best ending.

Breaking Bad is the most consistently brilliant series the whole way through. There was not a weak episode at all.

Bryan Cranston became a giant of an actor as the show progressed.

I must watch it all again. !

Oh yeah, I forgot about the new series. I'll take that over a movie anyday.

I was reading somewhere that the movie has yet to be confirmed and is still unlikely (particularly if they're tying up the story lines in the new series)

If I track down the series before you I'll let you know.

I was a bit skeptical when I started watching the Walking Dead, but it didn't take long to get engrossed in the series.

3 seasons of gory goodness.

hey Jack Jack

Did you ever get around to getting a copy of AD series 4? If you have I'd be interested to get your thoughts on it. I'm currently 12 Episodes down into it and so far its left me pretty disappointed, nothing compared to the first 3 series.

cheers

Is anyone watching True Detective? Best TV show at the moment by a long way.

Woody and McConaughey are in rare form.

In the latest episode, there's the best one-take scene since Old Boy.

Brilliant show.

Not heard of it DA, will have to have a look for it.

Started watching Rectify last Thus nights on SBS. Aden Young (look out for Metal Skin and old 90's movie. Very dark) is a guy who comes off death row, escaping the death penalty on a technicality. it is about him trying to assimilate back into a society that has changed in 15 years he has been in jail and a community with people wanting to hurt him, people totally unsure and a family scared by the experience to date.

Sounds like my kinda thing Cards, I'll check it out. I've seen Metal Skin a couple of times.

Sorry s81, missed your post.

I'm with you, I haven't even finished watching the whole season. Big let down in my books.

Another one I've just watched is Generation War. 3 part German series about 5 friends from Berlin in World War 2. Found it fascinating, could have gone on for 1 more ep as there is just so much to tell. Gripping on what people had to do to survive.

Yep, 'True Detective' and 'Rectify' are extremely good shows. Both quite "dark' in their own way. Thanks for the recommendations, chaps. The chemistry between McConaughey and Harrelson really makes the show (True Detective) Rectify has that brooding quality about it and the lead (Aden Young) is perfectly cast.

Sundance TV made Rectify and they're owned by AMC. A few other quality drama shows made by AMC are/were 'Rubicon' (ceased production after 13 episodes but was quite a good show if you like that kind of genre), 'The Killing' (a remake of the hit Danish series) and 'Hell on Wheels' (a Western series set back at the time of the construction of the first Transcontinental railway in the States)

AMC are probably more well known for making Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Walking Dead.

And from the UK ... Series 3 of 'Luther' and series 4 of 'Mad Dogs' came out late last year. As is typical of these type of shows, they need to be viewed from the start. Idris Elba stars as Luther and plays his part exceptionally well. Mad Dogs is very entertaining and is a little offbeat.

Keep an eye out for "Fargo" ... I believe the first season is in 10 parts (1 hour each) It's based on the Coen brother's 1996 film of the same name. This time around, the Coen Brothers are Executive producers.

Looks the goods with a decent cast ... starts airing in mid April (in the States) and on SBS in Australia, 2 weeks later.

Orphan Black is back for a 2nd series as well. Also on SBS around about the 20th of April. The first season was excellent. Tatiana Maslany plays the lead and does a superb job.

2 new comedies well worth a look ... Silicon Valley and Broad City.

Both are original and cleverly done. Broad City is quite edgy and offbeat whilst Silicon Valley is a little more mainstream with a good dose of sarcasm thrown in.

Loving Silicon Valley.

The series of Fargo, absolutely brilliant so far, if you're not watching it, I suggest you give it a go.

Is anyone up with The Fall? Not sure of it's been discussed, but wonderfully plotted, beautifully shot and well acted. Gillian Anderson is the lead. The second series comes out later this year.

Then, I presume everyone is up to date with Hannibal, True Detective, Mad Men and Game of Thrones? All amazing.

And I've been holding off on Fargo to see whether it got renewed or not before I try and invest myself in it. I don't want another Rubicon situation. I might chance it given your strong praise, DA. I'd heard negative vibes, but glad to hear that might not necessarily be the case.

It's only a one season story, Adam, like True Detective (which is one of the best I've ever seen) so invest away knowing there'll be no sudden and conclusionless ending like Deadwood.

One more episode to go and I've really enjoyed it, Billy Bob Thornton has played one hell of a character.

I've been meaning to check out The Fall, I will do so once GoT and Fargo seasons finish as I'll have sweet FA else to watch.

Finally watched The Fall. Loved it. Gritty, old school serial killer action. Really enjoyed it and am now hanging for the second season.

Also watching The Leftovers, not sure whether I like it or not but it has me intrigued for now. Bit worried it'll become pointless or absurd or I'll hate the outcome if indeed there is one, but HBO rarely lets me down so I'll stick with it. I enjoyed ep 3.

First episode of The Strain was pretty good. Unless you like the new age, pretty, romantic vampires that is.

Extant is a new series worth a look especially if you like your sci-fi - Halle Berry stars. Currently showing on channel 10.

And whilst it's a little formulated, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is good for a laugh. Starts on SBS next week I believe.

Also stumbled upon a French drama/thriller series called The Returned ... highly recommend this one but it might be a bit hard to find. It was shown on SBS earlier this year but I've heard they may be repeating the first series again soon. Apparently the Americans are making a version of the show

I must check out The Strain and The Leftovers, DA.

I'm pretty sure that was originally a movie and was possibly made in Scandinavia (Norway?)... remember seeing it a while ago.

Yes ht, the drama series "The Returned" (or "Les revenants") was based on the movie that you watched ... The Returned (2004)

Bit perplexed on the American re-make though ... there might be 2 ... The Resurrection (already released) or The Returned (to be released in 2015)

Anyway, those 2 re-makes would want to be very very good to be as good as the French version.

Apologies for the re-post but I started "editing" and then decided to just re-write the reply. A couple of other European drama series that are worth a look are Forbrydelsen (The Killing) & Äkta människor (Real Humans)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
