If you liked Black Mirror you'll almost certainly like Electric Dreams

Both are anthology series and I liked both equally despite Black Mirror having a very high rating as compared to Electrics Dreams very good rating.  In fact,  I have found the Electric Dream anthology series to be a bit more thought provoking.

A terrific cast are involved too including Steve Buscemi,   Geraldine Chaplin,  Brian Cranston,  Karin Anglin,  Greg Kinnear & Timothy Spall.

'Barry' is an absolute riot ... the best show I've seen this year.

Half hour episodes of the Comedy/Crime/Drama is the standard fare but it works well in that format (much like 'Homecoming' does with 30 minute episodes as well)

Bill Hader is cast ideally in the lead although Henry Winkler steals the show ... the show in its first year won 3 Emmy's and was nominated for 9 other Emmy awards.

Have we covered the good place with Ted Danson?  Just loving series one and two.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2018/jan/10/slow-train-coming-sbs-to-air-17-hour-ghan-train-on-sunday

Following the success/controversy of airing a three-hour extract of a train trip through the Australian outback, SBS has decided to air a 17-hour version of the journey on Sunday.

Could be interesting... trying to remember but didn't SBS have a test pattern or similar years ago that rated quite well?

The ABC have a camera on a freshly painted wall, it’s a tough choice between watching this and the Ghan on SBS.

The visual media Corporate's are just getting ready for the Free to Air shutdown.   The Indian-Pacific and test patterns will star again.

TV bandwidth is wanted for 5G mobile telecommunications.

Corporate's are using this reason to burn off Free TV.

A new show that might be worth a look is 'Emergence' ... Here's the IMDb link

Channel 9 are showing the series soon or the DVD of the completed first series could be available.  Haven't seen the show yet but I like the premise & storyline.  Sci-fi/Drama/Mystery

And the trailer ...

And 'Evil' looks to be interesting as well ... IMDb link

If you have Netflix check out 'The Kominsky Method'. Starring Michael Douglas as an acting coach and Alan Arkin as his agent, two grumpy old friends. Both funny and sad. Fantastic. Won Golden Globes etc. 2 seasons (16 episodes, but only 26 minutes each, so they are bite size).

I've been watching the What We Do in the Shadows series on Foxtel... fantastic!  Also just started watching an oldish series (2016) Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency on NetFlix and it's shaping up as a brilliant watch.

Yep ... doing that as I heard the English dubbed version is lousy and I never watch dubbed version's anyway.

It's quite a lavish production ... they've spared no expense and the various story lines already look very interesting.  Costumes,  acting,  cinematography & set designs are superb.  German film making at its finest.

Set nearly 100 years ago but the viewer feels like you're taken back to that time period.

I will binge on this show!

It cost a huge amount, maybe the highest budget drama from Germany.
A 4th Season was in planning when Covid hit

'Perry Mason 2020' (TV Drama Series)

Set in the early 1930's ... crime-drama, gritty,  realistic, top quality,  high production values

Borrows very little from the iconic TV series but there are a few links that fit nicely

I can't remember where I read that season 3 was the last. I was under that impression but just doing some " research " have found they may be filming again in 2021. Shall see what happens.

Watched the first episode of Vienna Blood the other day - looks the goods already.  Period Crime Drama set in Vienna in the late 19th Century

3 episodes (90 mins each) out with another 3 to come soon ... on SBS & SBS Demand

It’s wonderful, just carries on seamlessly

@dl4e  @Sir Why You Little

At a guess we might see season 4 released in Sept/Oct this year (well worth the wait in my view)

but Germany is about to Lockdown again, so we can only hope

closed sets are hard to manage

I just watched the first part of Exposed The Ghost Train Fire.

Compelling viewing. Although the interviews with the fathers of 2 of the victims and the widow/mother of other victims were heartbreaking.

I commend this to fellow 'landers.

'Resident Alien' is good for a few laughs ... surprisingly so in fact

Seems like an old idea but they've done it well.  Alan Tudyk is very good in the lead role ... the show can be viewed on 9Now

'Jack Irish' is back starring Guy Pearce and in this new series, Gary Sweet.  Good show

2nd episode of series 3 airs next Sat on the ABC at about 9.00pm (episode 1 is available on iview)

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
