2011 Player Review - # 47 James Strauss

Good luck to the land and my wishes for a speedy recovery.

Any medicos out there who know how long it will take him to get back on the track?

Strauss leg break made me physically ill.

He appeared on the Sunday footy show in the finals series and was in high spirits and said that he was ahead of schedule, which is great.

Will no doubt spend the whole year with Casey though.

I expect to see Strauss back in a BP by late in the season.

Not as far off as some seem to think.

Before the injury, he was on the verge of securing his spot in the 22.

Sometimes an injury such as this steels a young mind.

If he is going to miss as much football as that, it would probably mean that he starts the season on the long term injury list which would make our rookie list all the more important.J

Really?

That's an easy one for me - elevate Nicholson as another BP.

Not sure why it makes our rookie list more important.

Strauss epitomises that old adage that some players just take more time. Many of us almost gave up on the young lad. Well Strauss is a good case in point that sometimes you have to trust the recruiters as they know a lot more about the caper than us part time observers.

Injury in the most unfortunate of timing, hopefully he can resume services mid season and pick up where he left off. His beautiful kicking technique would be an asset to any club.

He's come along leaps and bounds in terms of bodywork - might sound stupid, but I see a fair bit of a young James Frawley in Strauss.

Albeit in a flanker's body.

I'm happy to admit that I was one of those who had all but given up on James securing a regular spot in our best 22. However, as the selectors showed faith in him, his confidence and form seemed to slowly but steadily improve, which is a real positive in a defence that was constantly under pressure. I just hope that he makes a full recovery from the injury, both physically and in his mind. If he can pick up where he left off by some time in the second half of 2012, I'll be well satisfied.

Was doiing well, but I think by the time he is ready to go again sammy blrease will have cemented that spot.

I would like to see him on a wing putting those kicks into the fwd 50

Was a surprise early pick, and I think he has shown very little. His value on this site has soared since he broke his leg. I can't remember a game that he actually earned his spot.

Hopefully his recovery goes well, because MFC really need a good half back flanker

Thomo I have reserved my judgement but I think you are being a bit over critical.

Last year was his first without injury before the fateful broken leg.

I am happy to give him till the end of 2013 because I think it will be hard to show much after coming back from that broken leg in 2012.

Now #19

where did you hear this?

Makybe Divas mouth. I'll try and find out Mitch Clark and others and report back
