The season provided a good learning curve for the young rookie who has blistering pace that enables him to be creative in general play and to exert great pressure on opponents. Had his ups and downs but looks a prospect.

I suppose the lack of comment on Kelvin is because few have seen him play. I've seen him on 4 or 5 occasions and saw quite a bit of promise.

He apparently had trouble settling in Victoria when he moved here and struggled a bit with injury midseason but he came back and played Casey seniors towards the end of the season and impressed with his speed, tackling and at times freakish skills. He's a keeper for mine for 2012 and has the potential to fill a hole in our list. He is a Betts/Garlett type player and will most likely need a bit of time.

If he makes it he will generate quite a bit of excitement.

I saw him play Casey Reserves before he came back into the seniors mid year and he played on a wing. He kicked 3 goals, two of which involved him running 50 metres with the footy.

When he came back into the seniors he played a much better defensive game. He's got the tricks to play AFL, but it's a matter of building up his fitness to the point where he can impact a whole game. At the moment he's having really good moment, patches and quarters of game. He'll have a patch of 10 minutes where he has 6 touches, 4 tackles and sets up a couple of goals. Then you'll barely see him for a quarter, before he has a similar patch of productivity. His productive periods also tend to be early in games, so there's a good chance that this will improve with better fitness.

He's got the tricks, so it's up to him.

Apart from the added fitness a full preseason will bring, I believe Lawrence also needs to be confident and relaxed in what he's doing. Last year he came to the club after the rookie draft, was homesick and unsettled early due to the distance from home, family and friends. He also needed to acclimatise and his form was therefore inconsistent. Bob saw his tricks at Casey but there was a freezing day in mid winter where he struggled to touch the ball for the Casey twos. Later in the season, I saw him dominate in patches, run down opponents like an early Aaron Davey and deliver the ball perfectly to Fev.

He's definitely got something. Let's hope it comes out and he gets some chances to show his wares on a consistent basis next year.

I agree- definately has the ability to develop.Watched him several times and consistency is the main aspect he needs to concentrate on.

Has got a bit of x factor about him. Needs to buckle down and work hard so he can impact for longer during games. I like what I've seen in short bursts so far.

I saw him play some ripping games for Casey but then I also saw him play some shockers. You'd have to be blind freddie to see we're In need of a small crumbing forward so If he works hard his chance will come.

I havn't seen Kel play, but I'm encouraged by what most of the posters above have to say. It seems that a senior small forward berth is beckoning, if he can build his fitness and consistency and ensure that homesickness doesn't get the better of him. Hopefully a second year at the Club, and his first full pre-season, will set him on track. His retention on our rookie list suggests that the Club is thinking the same way.
