I can't stop hoping we select this kid Daniel Markworth - really a high risk / high reward prospect, but I think he'll end up being more than worth pick 12.

Seriously shades of Nathan Fyfe and Scott Pendlebury, although developing as a latecomer to the game.

Here's a bit of a summary:

Daniel Markworth (Midfielder/Forward)

Height: 189cm

Weight: 78kg

DOB: 03/04/1992

Club: Calder Cannons

Profile: Tennis / basketball background.

Has made great strides in a short time as someone relatively new to the game.

Played TAC cup in 2011 as an overage player.

Great character.

Flexible - played in midfield & as a leading forward.

Super athlete. Very fast. Quick first step.

Good footskills. Great decision-making.

Usually, there's a reason why someone gets to be an overage player in the TAC Cup Under 18s such as injury or the player is a slow developer. Often they're ruckmen who take time to mature.

Is there any reason known in the case of Markworth or is it simply his relatively short time in the game?

He could become a tall midfielder with breakaway pace. If we wanted him, I'm not sure we'd have to invest our first round pick. Second or third round possibility apparently.

I think you're right, but our 2nd pick would probably be as late as he will be taken.
