Post more please. We need people who let reality in every now and then to balance the hair pulling, frothing at the mouth, the world is ending types who so often derail sensible discussions.

+1

Not to mention all of the BS that goes with some of it.

good for you mate.. couldnt be bothered with understanding al lthe previous posts I take it..fine.

Some understand and reject.

I don't believe that he is as calculating as you think he is.

I also don't like the way he has to go back on what he wants to do because of media spotlight.

Players shouldn't have to sign 14 months before they need to like Trengove did to appease the club or fans.

Contracts can be sorted out late, it's going to happen later and later with Free Agency coming in.

Get used to it.

Exactly

I understand all the previous posts, I simply don't agree with them

What has Tom Scully actually said, in his own words, that shows he is dissatisfied with the club?

How about answer that as opposed to a weak brush off respons?

Rhys Palmer confirmed to GWS. Keep ticking them off.

Scully Thursday announcement is my guess.

Great signing Rhys Palmer hasn't got a kick in two years and Has had knee problems.

Posted

GWS won't make the announcements it is when the players tell the clubs then everyone knows in about 20mins after that.

GWS will have a press conference maybe tomorrow to make it official. Palmer was gone early.

Anyone who follows "English" soccer will know that massive transfer$ is all that is talked about. This is where Australian Fox Rules Football is heading, the Scully thing is the preamble. IN coming years the mighty dees will have to fend off their prime players from all and sundry, notably the top four or five clubs. Expecting to win a premiership under this regime is fanciful, all we can hope for in this brave new world is occasional bottom eight appearances. if we get to the bottom eight, then we can dream. having said that, i am optimistic about our rising up the table, we just have to hang tough. it is not like the 90's, when fitzroy were destroyed by the afl and players defectd. there is a safety net (national draft, salary cap) which ensures confidence in the club sufficient to maintain sponsorships and signings. the fact that most of our playing group is happy to re-sign amidst the gloom of our rotten 13th placement is enough reason for supporters to maintain faith and renew memberships. when tom makes his teary gws speech on thursday we should contact the club and renew memberships. after all it is not the first time no 31 has been torn off kids backs.

the internet.

Thanks Harcourt, I'll get in to that internet thing one day.

But actually, smart ass, it wasn't on the Herald Sun website, or the AFL website, or the Freo website when I had a look after you announced it, so I was just questioning where you heard it.

I will wait for Thursday to see if the rest of your post has any merit.

Agree!

Scully has consistently stuck by his word from day one of the media speculation. He categorically stated that he would not be giving the issue his consideration until after season's end, and that is exactly what he has done. He has not held the club to ransom or played games... the only games that are being played here are going on in the minds of a few posters; the same goes for the displays of "petulance".

If he goes he goes, and if he stays he stays... regardless of the outcome, he at least has done nothing he didn't say he would.

No problems.

Here you go:

The story is from Kim Hagdom so make of it what you will.

He/she has also put this piece together re Scully being captain:

All the big names signing now, Davis, Ward, Palmer, Folau....

Oh wait weren’t they chasing Swan, Pendlebury, Thomas, Mitchell, Bartel, Murphy, Goddard....

Even if Scully does sign, GWS have failed massively.

If there were some blow outs this year wait until the top teams play GWS next year.

There is nothing in there that says he has committed to GWS... yes, it is most likely, but no official statement has been made by anyone. Scully has not made any statement yet either, but that has not stopped that site from reporting he will be Captain of GWS.

It seems a very risky strategy.

Davis - injury prone

Scully - injury prone

Palmer - injury prone

I suppose when you have an AFL behind you you can afford to be a reckless with your recruiting. If things go t's up the AFL just invent some new BS rule to give them more money.

Davis unlucky more than injury prone but is a big unkown of whether he will be a good player. Showed good signs.

Scully has a troublesome knee. Might have a hip issue too, suspect kicking over 30m+ but great work ethic and fitness.

Palmer done his knee once, lost a lot of pace and kicking is an issue. Struggle on the big Subiaco ground, would have moved on anyway.

Spot on, for mine

Posters can feel free to call me or think of me as naive, however, I'm simply being hopeful we'll retain him (although concede he may go) and choose to trust Scully at his word

No words have been publically uttered by Tom to prove he is dissatisfied with the club, or being a prima dona, or petulant etc.

GWS has not grabbed the imagination of players - this lineup will be lucky to win a game. Still some may be waiting another year as GWS has 2 years to recruit.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

    TRAINING: Wednesday 15th January 2025

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
