Eade won't be coaching the Dogs next year

Comes into serious calculations now as an experienced coach that is available.

Yes or no for Eade.

I honestly don't know.

There are sides of him that make me say NO, such as finals record. BUt hten, his team had made the Top4 4 for the past 3 or 4 seasons or something, and I don't think they were a great list of players. He isn't scared of going after an older player (could work both ways).

The other thing is that I look at a bloke like Blight, who while at Geelong, he had a good team but couldn't get a premiership with them, but then went to Adelaide and won back-to-back flags. Perhaps Eade could be similar, I'm just not sure.

Announcement on 3AW says that a press conference will be happening very soon regarding Rodney Eade.

Explains the way I feel exactly billy. Initially I would definitely think no, but thinking about it he does have some good attributes. I would still perform Malthouse if the impossible can be done, but it just comes back to me not knowing how I feel about Rocket.

Gee Kento, we agree a lot! Will have to catch up for a beer one day!

Malthouse is the obvious number 1 target. But if we can't get him, Eade would have to be in a very small group that would be 2nd preference.

11:30 it will be by the looks of it.

11:40 press conference. Eade finishing up - "Parting Ways"

Eade had requested that the Bulldogs bring forward their decision.

Made a presentation to the Dogs board last Thursday regarding the future.

No longer require his services after 7 years and a treble of PF's.

He's actually pretty stiff to get the boot from the Dogs.

They've been average this year, but at the same time, they've had some real injury problems too.

We could do worse...........I'm just not sure the Dogs game style appeared to be up with the modern pressing style.

mmmmm..... beer :) Is it too early??

It is a bit of a worry really, that a little earlier in the season there seemed to be a raft of experienced, senior coaches who would quite likely be available and now they are really a bit thin on the ground. The only reason I still think about Malthouse is because Hird last year came out and said if he were offered the Essendon job he would turn it down. Other than that I can't see who there really is left out of the original wish list. Roos and Matthews will not coach, Clarkson will surely be retained, Malthouse??? and Choco seems to be happy where he is. Next come Eade and Laidley. I really am not sure how I feel about either of them, but essentially I reckon if I'm hesitant, that is probably a sign I'd not be happy with either (not that my opinion matters one iota  ). After that, as far as the "experienced" senior coach we are after, who is left??? None I can think of really. So now we are left looking at Neeld, Sanderson and another untried senior coach. Makes me worry a little, although I still reckon we are a smoky to get MM, no matter how fanciful that opinion may be.

Torn.

Can work with limited resources, but has never experienced premiership success. Roos stepped in at Sydney and they won a flag, and with the Doggies he seemed to have left his chase for mature top ups (e.g.-Hall) too late.

He is however very good tactically.

He will have to be considered.

In october.

After Clarkson and Malthouse have said no.

Also, over Eade's tenure at the Doggies they seem to be a very good attacking team...Our weakness is clearly our accountability. Our back 6 are solid, but our team defence is horrible. Will Eade be able to fix this? Has his "attacking" game style held up in finals?

I'd be prepared to take on Eade, Malthouse or Williams. We need an experienced coach because our young players are clueless when it comes to knowing what it takes to reach the required standard. Whether they can deliver a premiership? Who knows. But prefer to go down that path than another untired coach at this stage.

Huge decision to be made. I really hope Lyon and co. are up to it.

The criticism of Eade is he doesn't delegate, likes to do it on his own. Which is a danger. Also be interesting to see if West is retained given their history.

No. Established bridesmaid.

Solid coach with a fairy mediocre side. The interesting point is that he did his apprenticeship under the guidance of one Dennis Pagan at North. Now that would make for an interesting duo at the dees next year.

If Malthouse isn't available, then Eade now sits as the next best for me.

Also means the Doggies will be looking for a new coach as well... They too may be focusing on MM, perhaps?

Would MM go back to the Doggies?

Malthouse is a former player and coach at the then Footscray. It would be interesting for him to return after all these years.

Leon Cameron must be the front runner.

I would be happy with Rocket except he has run out of fuel.

Although he has had a shocking year with injuries to his gun players(of which the blame could be attributed to him for too early returns) he has looked spent all year.

If he was invigorated I would change my mind.
