I sense another rebuild but this time we will have some leaders with backbone like Trenners, Frawley, Watts, Grimes, Jordie and Tappscott to support the kids coming through, I reckon we will start to drop down the ladder again and will have to get some high draft picks to climb back up. This time we need someone who can recruit topliners not second graders like Cameron and Prendergast have.

We will survive as a club but this will destroy our credibility for years to come. No more mealy mouthed statements from Cam Schwab we need him to come out and be strong and say that this is totally unacceptable to the MFC. Bailey is gone and Green has stepped down from the captaincy.

Also we have given Tom Scully 48 hours to decide where his future lies.

Reality is many clubs have taken a rock bottom point like this to realise what they need to change as individuals and as a team.

Geelong thrashed prior to their move up the ladder...

Way back North Melb got smashed prior to their run when Schimma was sacked....

We are in this position now and forget the coaching staff....if the players as a group don't work it out and step up now they never will.

Every player has to realise they all need to 'act' like a captain. Not leave it to anyone one player...

We have leaders but whether designated or not all players now need to lead and realise coaching staff cannot do it all for them.

(by the way im not saying the coaching staff are not accountable - they have a lot to answer for but they dont wear the responsibility all alone)

To qualify the TS theme, if he was to stay it would need to be on realistic money, so in essence we need to say goodbye.

I am over it too the guy may have a career shorting injury.

He is second year player ( who is only an average kick ) who has spent almost no time on the park this year.

Make him a reasoable offer and if that does not suit then off to GWS.

I am very tired of the whole saga.

You and I are probably the same age and like me I bet you can't name one Melbourne side that had a hard edge to it, we have always had, since the 60's, teams of second rate semi skilled nice guys. Sure we've had the odd good player but apart from a couple we've had no real aggression in the group. We've been considered the easy beats of the comp for generations and I couldn't give a stuff what other posters like Nasher etc say it is endemic in our club and our culture.

It can be passed down from playing group to playing group and from coach to coach because you always have some there that cross over from one to the next and they bring the rest down to their level. As I said on another thread I wish we could sack all players over 25 so we could rid ourselves of this disease that permeates through the club; it's like the weakness is passed on from father to son or in our case from senior player to junior player.
